This product absolutely does what it is supposed to do and will absolutely amaze your friends. There is one small problem. In order for it to work you must start out with an "ice-block" that is made with a series of three cups stacked together that is provided by the manufacturer. The issue is, that they only allow you to make one block at a time and do NOT sell extra cups on the manufacturers site. I was told several times, "NO WE DO NOT" sell extra cups. So what this means, you get one shot at impressing your friends then, another 24 hours to freeze the next block. Hi Dominic,"We don't, I'm sorry. The media could not be loaded.    Just before I was referred to this ice press I was actively looking for one and was considering having one machined just for me because the prices that companies like Williams-Sonoma are charging for their simple metal cylinder are ridiculous. That is where this ice baller becomes stellar. Not only is this price very competitive, but the feature set and appearance is first rate.What do all ice ball press devices do? They melt ice from whatever shape your ice chunk is into a perfect spherical shape. With that ice sphere, you get a slower melt rate in the cocktail of your choice. And the bigger the ball, the longer you maintain a very cold drink with the lowest amount of dilution.After the pressing (melting) is where this machine shines. The ability to lift the top half and have it stay raised is very helpful. Not only can you access the newly created ball without having to put the top somewhere, it provides a place for it to dry off and warm up for the next pressing.Once you have access to the ball, next you must grab it and ice being ice, is slippery. Just a quick turn of the knob and a stainless-steel pin lifts the ball up so you can remove it. Nice!And what about all the melt water? Well this machine has that covered too. The internal channeling and drainage system allows the water to exit at the bottom of the press. Allow it to pour out into the provided drip tray or if you prefer attach the silicone hose and run to a sink… or plant.Although branded for “whiskey” lovers, that is by far not the limit of the liquors that can benefit. I personally lean towards rum and scotch, but everything tastes better and longer a very large ice ball.

It's a lovely table accompaniment for the bar that has everything, and it becomes a conversation piece as you prepare drinks. This is going to impress your friends.Basic function is that you take an ice plug from your freezer and set it inside the press. Unlike other presses, the Whiskey Barrel Ice Press has a locking mechanism so that the top of the unit is held in place while you situate the plug. There's no heating element involved, simply the weight of the press lowers down upon the ice and forms it into a ball at the center. Obviously this process creates a stream of liquid water, but this press has a superior drainage system that filters the liquid quickly from the ball.Another improvement this press has over other models is the dial on the front which allows you to lift the completed ball into a convenient position to grab with ice tongs. The unit is very stylish and the decision to model it on an ice barrel was a stroke of genius. Other ice presses just look like a big piston or a random chunk of metal, none of them have the aesthetic of this unit. The black finish is also very classy.This is a top shelf ice ball press for people who appreciate good whiskey. It's as well constructed as an ice press can be, and tops the market for innovation. This is the only ice ball press to consider.

Ordered direct from the company but found here. Aweseom piecs of heavy aluminumi and it is a beautiful piece that already got compliments from neighbors and friends. Very well made and I have been researching for a while and decided to go with this unit since it wasn't just a big chunk of aluminum sitting on my bar. The Cirrus was way overpriced as many of the high end ones are. Although I did go with their clear ice system to create the clear ice spheres. I will try out the Wiskey Barrel system and compare with feedback here once I have made a few.The the manufacure well done and nice piece. Some color options would be nice also.

This is fantastic product. I bought mine directly - but I cannot tell you how great it is and how well it functions. These big ice balls are ideal and they are good for three drinks, easy. I use boiled reverse osmosis water for clear cubes, and room temp R.O. water for a few bubbles. Quality kit here. And a unique gift at that.
