My piece even has the natural wood pattern in parts and this is something I love.- The white pawn are light brown wood and the black are dark brown wood.- The underside of the pawns are covered with green felt and thus will not scratch the board. The underside of the board proper has red felt. Buy 12 inch ones as 15 inch is too big and heavy . But quality is good . If it would have magnetic than it would have been even better. But still quality of product is very good .
