Revolutionized my knife sharpening; portable, built tough, a pleasure to use.
I have sharpened so many knives with this system now, & it works so crazy well that's it's difficult to put into words how much I love the thing. After buying the base version, I've since purchased multiple stones & strops for this system, but here I'll focus only on the Deluxe Bag that I purchased for this particular product's review. It sounds dramatic because it is: the Wicked Edge Go revolutionized blade sharpening for me. For decades I attempted free hand wetstone sharpening with minimal success. After sometimes hours of preparation & hard work, I'd end up tired & sweating, with one part of the blade somewhat sharp (sometimes) & other parts dull. I'd wear out diamond stones from pushing too hard trying to maintain my angle, costing me more money to replace them, only to fail to get my knives sharp yet again anyway. With the WEG, even with just the 200/600 grit diamond stones that are included with this base model, I'm able to get a very sharp working edge along the entire length of the blade, & actually enjoy the process. The most important part is clamping the blade & ensuring everything is squared & even, then adjusting the arms to the desired angle. I do recommend getting a digital angle finder. I started without one & was very glad when I finally bought one. Then it's easy to start sharpening, I'll listen to an audiobook or YouTube & enjoy the Zen-like process of sweeping the stones along each side of the blade. And the satisfaction of knowing it was me who put on the edge, is practically priceless. With the 200/600 stones you can get a very sharp "toothy" edge on your knives that will slice though paper, vegetables, meat, pretty much anything (within reason) with relative ease. And if you like the system, you can upgrade like I did, adding implements which enhance your edges, all the way up to getting a true mirror finish (which I love). The 200/600 stones have lasted me dozens of sharpening sessions & counting. Sometimes I need to remove significant amounts of steel, & these stones perform reliably with no signs so far of slowing down. The stones have broken in & smoothed out just a bit, but this is normal. With cheaper stones, in my experience the diamonds tend to loosen & fall out much faster, leaving a flat plate that can't abrade. The WEG is also portable & easy to pack up & reassemble to take wherever you please. The Deluxe bag includes all the same hardware as the Standard bag, but has 4 additional slots to carry a wider variety of stones/strops/platens. The unit itself holds two within the base protected with felt liners, so even with the Standard bag, there is a secure slot for the included 200/600 stones.I realize this review is long, but I want to impart to prospective buyers how satisfied I am with this system. I hemmed & hawed for a long time, reading Amazon reviews & watching videos before I made the decision to buy this. But I'm so, so glad I did. This is an investment, but if you love knives & want a "crazy" sharp edge without the guesswork & frustration of hand sharpening, you'll love the Wicked Edge Go. It's made to last, it's portable, & it makes sharpening satisfying & relaxing instead of frustrating & stressful. Totally worth the money, especially if you're into knife collecting or otherwise require sharp blades.

Better quality than I expected.
Wow, this thing is built SOLID! Love the machining that went into this little unit. Just got it today so I don't know how it sharpens, but I'll update as soon as I do. But as of now, just looking everything over, I'd say I have a serious quality piece of sharpening kit here. Stay tuned for more...*EDIT - Ok, so I sharpened my first knife. If you only use the 200 and 600 grit stones that this thing comes with, you won't be getting a razor sharp edge. Luckily, I ordered additional stones for mine. After I stoned it, I stropped it down to .5 micron. Let me tell you, this thing puts a stupid sharp edge on a knife. It's approaching that mirror edge that you see in the videos, but not quite there yet. Next, I think I'll go with the kangaroo leather and the .25 diamond spray. That should do it.This thing is crazy fast to set up and super easy to use. Just gotta make sure to draw a burr first and you'll do fine. The instructions tell you step by step everything you need to do.So far, this seems to be about the best knife sharpener I've ever used. And with a little practice, I'm sure I'll get even better with it. But for the first-timer, you should have no problem turning any knife into a razor that you can shave with if you feel so inclined.

Sharpest sharpener I've ever used, but steep learning curve; does not work well on all knives
Okay.I need several months of use to do a proper review on this item. This was a luxury item that I splurged on that would replace my sub-$100 Syderco Sharpmaker.I took a while for me to pull the trigger on this purchase, as this was going to be an investment. This is the best knife sharpener I have ever used. The ability to "lock in" the angle makes for consistent sharpening from the honing stones. This works well for knives with very stiff spline (i.e. backbone).Knives which are very flexible are a pain unless you use a very light touch, as the blade deflects too much to get consistent angles.I had a lot of trouble trying to sharpen my (generic) steak knives, as they flexed a lot at the tips. Also, very long blades (over 4" - 5") long will need to be repositioned on the holder to get good contact with the honing stones.I also had trouble trying to get consistent contact with the blade as you move across the edge; although the angle is locked, you can easily rock the honing stones, which you can see as a wave across the sharpened edge. The diamond stones drag a bit, so this doesn't help when you first start out.You should get better at this over time, but it's still not consistent enough to get rid of this wave. The stock set-up does not work at all for very short blades - I cannot sharpen my small Swiss army knife, as the blade is under 1/2" high.I've invested a lot more money (in fact more than the initial kit itself) in extra stones, as I have everything up to 3000-grit.I'm a little bit disappointed that even with the 3000-grit, I cannot get a highly-polished edge - oh well, gotta drop even more money for even finer stones...
