Q: How long till it starts?

It usually takes about 20 minutes for me to get sleepy and then it is lights out. I take three of the 5mg. But each person is different. Start with one and if that doesn't help take another. You can take up to 30mg safely.

Q: I know it says vegetarian, but is the melatonin 100% vegetarian derived, or is it synthetic?

I too would like to know the answer to this. It has been asked a number of times, so there's obviously a great interest, and I therefore find it quite suspicious that the verified Manufacturer, NOW, has not responded to any of these questions. Is the Melatonin itself sourced from animal brain pineal glands - or is it plant, protist, fungi-based, or synthetic? I doubt that there will be any vegitarian/vegan brownie points lost if it's synthetic; if others are asking for the same reason I am, we just want to know that it's not made from the pineal glands of animal brains, with the perceived risk of transmission of animal viruses and prions - such as those which cause BSE/Mad Cow Disease in cattle, which can lead to variant Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease (vCJD) in humans. So, NOW Foods, is the Melatonin in this product sourced from animal brain pineal glands?

Natural. NOW does not do synthetics.

These are the Vegan capsules so it's a vegetable source not an animal source

Seems good and bad both.

It gives you sound sleep for 4 hours.and then you wake up fresh.But you can't sleep 8 hrs with this.It doesn't make you dizzy. It's good for people who want adequate sleep in a shorter period ,say 4,5 hrs
