Super awesome and helpful!! But read this review before using!
This thing is AWESOME!! It really works (using the tips below)! The only bad thing is, there are no instructions. It is a little quirky, but workable (if you know what to do and what not to do) and super helpful for beginners. I got mine right the first time (thanks to the prior reviews and a little common sense) and it has helped me tremendously!! This was a great buy! Here is everything you need to know:* The top of the sticker goes to the very top of the neck, right by the nut). There is no need to cut the sticker as mentioned in a prior review. The notes are placed correctly for a full size 4/4 cello tuned to C,G,D,A* Put the sticker on BEFORE the bridge (and strings, if possible)* If the strings and/or bridge are on, take the bridge off and make sure the strings are loosened significantly.* Have someone else help you hold the strings to the side, out of the way during sticker placement.* Peel back just the top of the backing to start, exposing just the top of the sticker* Place the top of the sticker on the neck first (right under the nut at the top of the neck, almost touching it, perfectly square) and smooth it down. Have your helper hold the top down to the neck while you unpeel more of the backing at first, so it doesn't come off.* Slowly unroll the backing (1-2" at a time) as you smooth down the sticker to the neck frequently, ensuring there are no bubbles.* Smooth the whole thing down again.* After you have the sticker placed and 100% smooth, put a long piece of 2" clear packing tape over the sticker, to basically protect the print from scratching off. Stick one end at the very top (just under the nut) and unroll the backing slowly as you stick it and smooth it down often. Beware of bubbles. Go super slow!* Smooth the whole thing down again.* Set up your bridge and strings, tune up and play.* Optional (for beginners): Cut masking tape into 2cm strips and tape lines on the back of the neck at the 1-5 positions (aligned with the sticker. 1 = low D fret. 2 = low E. 3 = low F, 4 = low G). It helps to know where to put your thumb on the back without looking at the sticker on the front too much. This has helped me keep better positioning, which helps avoid squeaking.Enjoy!

Update: Guide is coming off
Easy to install but you have to take the strings and bridge off the cello. It works great. I really love it, I am 60 years old and just starting to learn the cello.Update: It's been 6 months since I have I put this on and the guide is coming up on the sides and on some of the notes. See picture attached

Not at all accurate
Several problems with this item. The notations on the finger dots are too small to read while playing. The biggest problem, though is that the dot locations below the 1st finger are spaced incorrectly. I used two different electronic tuners to confirm this. It would be unfortunate for student cellists - which this item is designed for, to learn finger positions with this. Mine was crumpled up and thrown away after about 2 hours of attempted use.

Sounds better!
It’s been so helpful as I’ve started the cello. I sound less like a distressed cat now that my fingers are in the right place.

image rubbing off before use
I was looking forward to trying this cello guide out because it has the letter names of the notes, not just a bar guide. Right out of the box, before putting it on my cello, the guide markings are already rubbing off (look especially at the first notes on the narrowest end). There are no instructions for applying it to the instrument. Also, the plastic the image is printed on is shiny, so when you look to the side to watch your finger placement, you can't actually see what's written on the guide. I'm giving it 3 stars because the sticky backing isn't goopy and allowed me to reposition it a couple of times to get the right placement.

Read review to see if it’s right for you.
You have to put this on without your strings on (easiest way), and you need to find 1st position before putting this on. I didn’t feel like removing my strings so I attempted to do it with them on, it was impossible for me. Great concept though.
