LifeProof FRĒ iPhone 5c Waterproof Case - Retail Packaging - BLACK/CLEAR

I have mixed feelings about the Lifeproof case, especially since this is my first iphone and first case I ever bought for a cell phone, I don't have other products to compare this with. However, with that being said, I'm going to be a bit critical because you're paying top dollar for this case. So, I purchased this in October 2014, and the case itself may very well have saved my phone from being damaged so I don't regret buying a case for my phone. However, I can't help but wonder if it was worth the cost especially since this cost me 80 bucks off amazon back when I purchased it. today, a large chunk of the rubber came off after taking off the case and then putting in back on. Heed in mind, I was gentle, and I would think a case called "Life proof" would be durable beyond belief, but such is not the case. Even prior to this, little chips of the rubber have been coming off and I can't help but think the cheaped out to save manufacturing costs rather then focusing on quality.All in all, do I regret my purchase? Absolutely not-- it's still worth it to buy a case for your phone. A case costs less than a new phone replacement, plain and simple. However, has my interest piqued to see if a more affordable, yet similar, perhaps superior product is on the market in terms of cases? Absolutely. Lifeproof, you didn't make me a lifelong fan and I really, REALLY, wanted you to WOW me, but you fell slightly short of excellence. Still, I cannot give you less than 3 stars because you may very well have saved my phone from 1 or 2 falls, so you're far from perfect, but you're not half bad either.

This popped onto my phone in seconds, and I've been using it for almost a year with no issues. I've dropped my phone multiple times, had it out in the rain, etc, with absolutely no visible damage. There is a little scuff mark from when I dropped it on really rough pavement, but nothing that affects the function of the phone. This is a great case, and I love the peace of mind that comes from knowing it's waterproof! I clean it regularly by rubbing the surface with alcohol swabs, and it's held up really well so far. The image is perfectly clear and it doesn't affect the touch screen function at all. Unlike other lifeproof cases I've had in the past, it fits the volume and silent/ring mode buttons well so they're easy to use.

This case has kept my iPhone perfectly safe since I bought it, which is exactly why I bought it. There are several major flaws, however. In order to get it in the case so that the power button was not constantly being held down, I have to loosen the button from the inside by pushing it up with a dull butter knife. My sister bought the same case on the same day and experienced the same problem. It works fine now, I just felt that it was a little sketchy for such an expensive case Another fault is that - the price. The price of this case is insane. As a college radio DJ, I listen to a lot of music. This case requires that you unscrew a cap from the headphone jack and screw in a male-female adapter before you can plug any headphones in. I recently discovered the crappy headphones you get with your iPhone fit into the case without this piece, though it compromises the waterproofing while they are plugged in. Until Lifeproof gets together with some headphone developers and coerces them into creating headphones with a thin connector that fit without recquiring me to screw in the adapter, I will not be completely satisfied. I am not looking for waterproofing while I am listening to headphones so much as I am when I am walking around the beach, river, pool, etc. with my phone in my pocket. Get on it!

Update - 12/2015 - warranty service is AWESOME!the rubber covering the vibrate button tore - I do use that function a lot in meetings - and I was about to order another case here on Amazon when I saw the warranty thing....I called Lifeproof and what do you know...less than 5 minutes and $5bucks and they are sending me a new case! That's pretty awesome. I really don't know if I can ever have a 'normal case' again, haha....I drop my phone, I don't worry about water or dust or dirt or sleeping on it....I love the lifeproof cases...and now the warranty...that's just awesome!This may be the 5th or 6th of these we have bought....we are 'done' with any other case except lifeproof cases in our house.I LOVE the clear back - I can cut out my favorite bible verse or motivational saying and every time I set my phone down it shares my faith with others! love it! I see the TV commercials for the Samsung that is waterproof and drop proof with no case....it looks great - and when Apple comes out with theirs I will upgrade but after being on the iphones from the beginning....no way I'll ever leave the brand and all the stuff I bought on my iphone/iTunes. Till then - this case is awesome!

Can't afford to upgrade my iPhone 5c, so I'm buying this case (again) Lifeproof has a great warranty, until they stop manufacturing an outdated case such as this. I bit the bullit and bought this one new, and have just returned it to try again. Everything worked fine, except the touchscreen, where the clear protective cover fit loosely, making the touchscreen a total pain to use. I'm hoping for better luck on the next one. Quality control is poor with Lifeproof-I returned 2 previous ones for the warranty; on the first one, the case cracked under the charger cover, rendering it non-waterproof. The new one sent had a defect on the mic area, and so the mic didn't work properly. On my last one, the whole touch-screen cover delaminated. So here I go with another try, must be a sucker for punishment...

These Lifeproof cases are okay. I use them for their waterproof capacity. The biggest challenge is their design. They don't last that long. While I've experimented with other so-called waterproof cases, none has matched the actual name they aspire to. Lifeproof cases do - for about 5-6 months. Not shock-absorbent, but water-tight. This is necessary in my out-door work on a daily basis, especially during the rainy season on the west coast of Canada. Are they worth the asking price vs their quality and duration? I'd say not, but they are the one waterproof case I can find for my iPhone.

good quality case, but screen cover doesn't work properly - it's not a tight fit therefore sometimes when you press a button there's no response on the phone.However I did accidentally drop it under water as well as from over 6' high and phone survived.I would recommend it if you don't want to risk cracked screen or iphone go bye bye.The clip on holder for this is highly not recommended.

This is an excellent phone case for those of us who are a bit tough on electronics. Two years ago I purchased one, and just recently purchased another when the softer plastic began separating from the main framework of the case. Considering how often I use my phone, 2 years is a fairly good lifespan for the case, and my phone inside is as good as new. I purchased a new one so I could be 100% confident with the waterproof capability. So far, it has not let me down!

Saves my phone when it was run over by a truck. Enough said! Also waterproof, so it's pool, toilet, blood and body fluids protected. Small downside is it covers the camera lens, so your pictures wind up being poorer quality.
