LG Electronics DVD Optical Drive UH12NS30

Plugged it in to my motherboard and PSU, slapped a Blu-Ray in the tray, and started ripping using makeMKV... That's all I wanted it to do, honestly. Note- this DOES NOT come with the playback software unless you buy it that way. I bought the bare drive, and that is what I received. Works fine for ripping movies or reading Data BD discs, that's all I wanted it for. Note 2: If you rip movies, please only rip movies that you own, and please don't share those ripped movies with other people.

Great Drive, works perfectly I like the detail of the open the track button, reproduce Blue Ray perfectly, and 3D Blue Ray Movies without any problem, great cause thats exactly what was looking for, and the price is very well, Does not include cables (usually comes with your motherboard and Power Supply) or software (I'm using it with PowerDVD), it's just a Drive but it does everything it suppossed to do without any errors. But If I Should buy it again for some extra bucks I would buy this same Drive with the Burner Blu Ray Option Model.

I purchased the LG Internal UH12NS30 BD-ROM Blu-ray drive in 2016, and so far, it’s been an excellent addition to my PC setup. No issues with drivers or compatibility, which is always a huge plus. Affordable: For a Blu-ray drive, this is very reasonably priced, especially considering its quality. It’s an excellent value for those looking for a Blu-ray drive without breaking the bank. Quiet Operation: I was impressed by how quiet it operates. Even when reading discs at high speeds, it runs relatively quietly, which is great if you're in a quiet environment or using the PC for tasks that require focus. Cons: Write Speed: While it’s great for reading and playing Blu-ray discs, the write speed isn't as fast as some higher-end models. If you're looking for a drive primarily for burning discs, you might want to explore other options. No 4K Support: This model doesn’t support 4K UHD Blu-ray playback, so if you're specifically after ultra-high-definition content, you might want to look for a more premium option. Overall: The LG Internal UH12NS30 BD-ROM Blu-ray drive is an excellent choice for those who need reliable Blu-ray disc reading and don’t need ultra-high-speed writing or 4K playback. It offers great value for the price and has been a solid performer for all my media needs. Definitely recommend it for general use!

I didn't necessarily need to buy an optical drive, as I intended to use the one from my old computer for my new rig, but when I saw the price for this Blu-ray Drive I decided to buy it. Why buy a blu-ray player? I paid 39.99 for this surprising little thing and my computer can be hooked up to any HDTV I want. The only con to this purchase was the fact that it DOES NOT come with software. But that is no issue really and I recommend Cyberlink PowerDVD as a basic option to amend this. The drive can play CDs and DVDs off the bat with just the driver but you will need software to play Blu-ray discs. This drive can play CD, DVD, and BD; as well as burn/rewrite CDs and DVDs! Any first-time builder should get a BD-ROM drive! You can't go wrong.

Easy to install, works perfectly. Handles every type of disc you throw at it (record or play). Nice and quiet, too (at least the unit I received). Note that you will need your own SATA cables for power and data, as well as an open 5.25-inch drive bay and available connections on your motherboard and power supply. If you are simply replacing an existing SATA drive, you're all set. Like most Blu-ray drives, you will need to download software to play or rip Blu-ray discs, but a quick Google search will find you both. There are both free and commercial products out there. I use the freeware stuff and it all works perfectly.

I have previously owned a LG BD ROM/DVD Burn Combo with light scribe, after 4 years, it stop reading DVD and reads BD and CD only. I compare multiple BD ROM and this item has the BEST PRICE compare to all others, it does not burn blu-ray as I see on other people's comment but I never actually burn any BD so it is not necessary for me anyway, so far the product works great, only down side I can think of is no light scribe but it has been discontinued so there is nothing I can do about that, nor the stacks of light scribe discs that I have. Anyway, this product is working great so far, I will update the review if anything goes wrong within warranty period.

And therein lies the problem. It's a perfectly serviceable and inexpensive disk drive; I've had none of the noise issues other reviewers have mentioned. All in all, works pretty well. Except for what it lacks, which is everything except the drive itself. It doesn't come with any of the mounting or connecting hardware, no SATA cables, and no software. This means that you have to download the drivers yourself, and it does not come with any of the registered software that allows you to play Blu Ray movies. In other words, it's a Blu Ray drive that won't play Blu Rays unless you buy an outside software. This is a major failing in my opinion, but I can't fault the page. It says very clearly what's included, caveat emptor. Be warned that you will have to spend the money on SATA connectors and extra software to get full functionality out of this drive. Other than that, it's a fast and serviceable disk drive. 2.5/5 for quality of build and missing necessary components.

Purchased this as an upgrade / replacement for my internal PC DVD drive. very easy to install opened my PC case loosened 2 screws slid out old drive and replace with new drive tighten the screws closed case and job done. I have always found LG to be very reliable and so far so good.Now I view all my movies in stunning 3D and Blu-ray ( please note you need third party software to view your DVD's I use Power DVD 17 and it is well worth buying I highly recommend it)

Great drive..works great

No problem with Windows 10. Installed the drive, attached to SATA port, powered up PC, it was recognised straight away and I was off an running. It's a pretty quiet drive as well whether ripping DVDs or burning CDs. Very pleased.

This is a US model and will not work in Canada, and only play on windows 7 or earlier. I'm using windows 10. J.S.

does the job well just gotta keep the wife away or she will try to put in hers and give me the old one back
