Best Diabetic Cat Food
I have never wrote a review in my life but I am so impressed with this food, I feel like i need to share how good of a quality this is!My diabetic cat is 16 and she spotted eating her Science Diet food. She lost a lot of weight and started becoming very lethargic. I thought her diabetes and she was just catching up to her but after doing some research, i found a few soft food alternatives to try. This food by far was her favorite! After just a month she was back to her playful self, coming back upstairs and her hair was growing back much healthier! This food is pricey but it brought my cat back to life! So thankful for this product!

Good k/d prescription alternative
Note: Updated 9/15/23 (see below).Short review: This is a high-quality cat food that has worked as a prescription alternative for my k/d cat. It's expensive so I buy the larger size to save 15%. If you are having issues getting your cat to eat prescription cat food, I recommend you give this a try. I have been feeding my cat Weruva TruLuxe Glam & Punk since March 2022 (one month after k/d diagnosis) in combination with Merrick Limited Ingredient Duck (even better value of 26% protein and lower PHOS - 146mg/100kcals vs 180 but my cat prefers the Weruva so I mix) and other treatments with good results. If you would like more details, please see below.Long review: I have a 14-year-old k/d cat that refused prescription food and was literally starving. After researching alternatives online, I selected the Weruva TruLuxe Glam & Punk because of its lower protein level (36%) and low carb level (1%). The remainder of calories come from fat (63%). Alternatively, k/d prescription diets are mainly high in carbs. My cat is a finicky eater but eats this with Merrick Merrick Limited Ingredient Duck and some no sodium chicken broth (FYI Swanson's no sodium stock has phosphorus but the broth does not). I am also giving her Nordic Naturals Omega-3 fish oil and Pet WellBeing antioxidant daily. At the time of diagnosis (Feb. 2022), my cat's CREA level was 3.6. When retested six months later in August it was 3.2. She also gained .5 lbs after getting down to 9 pounds and feels heavier now. The vet gave me the thumbs up on the food choices. Since August, my cat suddenly wants to play and run around again, which is night and day from before the diagnosis when she was lethargic and vomiting. This process of research + trial & error was stressful for me, and I also threw away a few hundred dollars in uneaten food before finding a successful combination. I wanted to share something that appears to be working for my cat since I was so desperate for any information related to k/d diets and treatments.4/4/23 Update: My cat kidney function is stable (3.3 CREA at last check), but FYI I am no longer using this product since my vet asked me to find an alternative with an even lower protein % and some grains. I am now mixing the Merrick with Castor & Pollux Organix Turkey, Brown Rice & Chicken (25/61/15) with good results.9/15/23 Update: My cat is thriving but I’ve stopped using this product as well as the other two above. My strategy now is just the lowest phosphorus non-prescription food, which is the Weruva Wx and Wellness Morsels (Chx + Chx Liver has the lowest but others are not bad) - both available on Amazon at a reasonable price. The TruLuxe Glam & Punk at 180mg PHOS/100kcals is not that high but the Weruva Wx are all about 80 and the Wellness Morsels Chicken and Chicken Liver is 116.

The only wet food my cat doesn’t vomit
So I REALLY love cats and dogs, and my husband is always worried I’ll head to Home Depot for some potting soil or something and come back with another cat from the pet store next door. That’s totally unreasonable of him, albeit true. Twice. But anyhoo, my older cat Harley Quinn the righteous princess isn’t too fond of my bringing new pets into our home. And the last kitten I came home with, the rambunctious Mr. Meowgi, really got her calico paws in a twist. She hid under beds, refused pets, peed on my favorite boots, refused to acknowledge me, and ended up losing a couple pounds. The vet suggested we supplement her kibble diet with wet food, which she would promptly vomit up in the most inconvenient places. I think I tried a couple dozen kinds of canned cat food until a Google search suggested this Steak Frites stuff. And dang if it didn’t work; Harley loves it, no post-dinner vomit, and she’s gained back most of that weight she lost. She’s still angry with me for making her share her 5 bedroom home with unwanted roommates, but at least she comes running for dinner.

My picky Boy Likes it
I have a verrrry picky (now) 1 and a half year old maincoon mix that just wouldn't take wet food. For the last year we have tried over 13 wet cat food products to supplement his diet (Blue Buffalo, Iams, Nulo, Orijen, Weruva, Instinct to name a few...) and I had all but given up hope in finding one he likes.Enter steak frites! Although still very picky, my now 12 pound boy demands the option of wet food twice a day. It's not overpoweringly smelly like some catfood brands. The only downside is it is a little bit expensive. The cat likes what the cat likes, though!

Not a sure thing
Ordered a case due to an AI top recommendation for senior kitties. Nothing wrong with the food that I can tell, but both of my cats, (16 & 18) won't touch it. Except for two cans, the case is going to the local animal rescue organization.

Alternative for cats with kidney disease
Cats hate "prescription" diets, and this is a great alternative. It has low phosphorus, which is one point of these script diets for cats with kidney issues. But what good are those if cats won't eat them? I've never had a cat who did.It does have pieces of squash, and if cats eat those pieces it's great. If they eat around them, they still get nutrition. You can spin it all in a blender or food processor to blend those pieces into a puree and they will also get that benefit.Low phosphorus apparently means companies must label this as not being a complete food for a cat's diet, but it's only because it has lower phosphorus, which CKD cats are supposed to limit.Weruva has many lower phosphorus foods. Their web site is one of the few were all these values are listed and easy to find.Again, this is not a puree, but you can turn it into one, if that's what your cat likes.
