Not be able to read the license plate number even on the highest setting (full 1080p extreme)

I have seen several reviews stating that this dash cam is great, but my experience is just the opposite. I really wanted a decent camera, so I thought I'd give it a try based on all of the great reviews I've seen. Installation was a breeze and was up and running within minutes, after that everything went downhill. Couldn't get a video that wasn't blurry to save my life. It is so blurry that you can't even make out a license plate of the vehicle in front of you in stopped traffic! And I'm supposed to rely on this if I get in a wreck?I followed the instructions to the letter, contacted Blackvue and followed their instructions to try and fix the issue. I updated the firmware just as Blackvue suggested. Still didn't work, everything is just out of focus, I have read that this is an issue with these cameras.....If you are thinking about getting one of these, do yourself a favor and research "Blackvue out of focus", you will find several videos on it. From what I understand, it's easily fixed by taking the cover off the lens and using live view as you turn the lens to focus it, but that voids the warranty (and why should I have to tinker with something to make it work as it should out of the box). If this camera would've have worked, I would have bought more for each of my vehicles because they are very slim and you don't even notice them in the car. But, if I get in a car wreck and have blurry video to back me up, I'm screwed.Blackvue.....My suggestion, work on your quality control. You have the potential for a great product, but if the camera is blurry, it's not worth a dime.

I tried to upgrade the firmware to the latest version with no luck. the enhancements of the latest firmware based on their website is (improve image quality) but this is incorrect.I tried to change the Camera position, again no luck.

The camera has never worked right from the beginning. As requested I shipped the camera off to Canada for a warranty claim. It was returned with the same problem. The camera just restarts. Over and over. After contacting the company again weeks ago, they finally replied and requested me to contact the distributor! A garbage product that the manufacturer doesn't stand behind.

Haven't had it installed long (11/2/18), but so far everything is great.I love the compact and sleek design. Very unobtrusive on the windshield. Easy to set up and get going. I opted for a hardwire kit to a ignition switched source. Wire tapped the auto dimming mirror in my A4.Had some complications getting the external GPS to work, i kept getting "Error 1 GPS, restarting" every 30 seconds. If anyone has this issue, what worked for me was re-installing the firmware OTA with the GPS connected. (initially i installed the firmware before the GPS was fitted).Video quality seems fair for what you are paying. Haven't looked at any on a computer screen as yet though. This is definitely an entry level BlackVue. But i think it is decent for the price.

This camera the 590w was the 4th Blackvue camera I own. I have 3 others that still work one of which is going on 5 years. This camera also received the least amount of use. I have dual camera unit which runs 24/7 with 3 years on it so far, how it's still alive I am not sure. For the money I paid for this slimed down version there is no value for the amount of money spent. I did buy the warranty offered with it from Asurion which I think so I'm out the $15 or $20. Asurion was quick to handle my claim within 7 days i had the money spent back in the form of an amazon gift card. It's possible I got a bad one not sure, this model is still for sale for $10 less I don't know that I will but it again.

This is a great dash cam. Completely out of view behind the rear view mirror and excellent image quality. I love the one touch wifi activation so I can quickly download incident videos to my phone. They have been good to aid in accident reporting as well as just showing people the insanity of people on the road. Came with great recommendations from others in the RV community who have said it saved them in accident reporting cases. Oh, always leave the sound recording on. That aids to determine the state of your vehicle at time of accident. Also makes for humorous playback of wacky statements your passengers make!

Bad picture quality, can’t ever read license plates unless is super close, like right In front of you on the parking lot. Zoom is useless, this camera is joke comparing to any camera you have on any smartphone! Would not buy it, not even for $20

I previously owned Blackvue cameras in this style (wifi with no screen) and was always happy with them. I had dual channel (front and rear cams) both on the car and motorcycle. The addition of the Sony Starvis sensor has resulted in an incredible difference in night vision. Between those ones and this latest Blackvue, I also had the same style Cameras made by DOD. I know this is for rating the Blackvue but those cams were my introduction to that new Sony sensor. The advantage this style has over cameras with screens is that the wifi allows you to watch the video on a your phone which is probably a lot larger that the built in ones on the cameras. The other is that you can download and save any video directly to your phone on the scene. No need to protect it and wait till you get home to save something you might need to your computer.

Bought this camera on May 8th of 2020. It has recently stopped working all together so I called BlackVue for help, instead the gave me a phone number for a "distributor" to call and seek help from. I've called this random New York number twice now and have not been able to get thru to anyone. This is odd to me because normally the brand that made the product should be the one to help with warranty, so it's rather strange that I'm to call a random store in New York that I've never heard of or been to in order to get warranty help.The camera was great in the beginning but now I would never buy another BlackVue product.

Bought this camera for use in a semi tractor. It was initially easy to install and get started using the phone app. Was wired to constant power 12v receptacle in truck (does not power off with ignition). At about 13 months it stopped working. I cannot figure out why, the WiFi light stays on and the record light comes on only sometimes. The camera will not connect to the app on my phone any more. Have tried to update the firmware. Was going to purchase a new SD card but including shipping they are $50+. Have spent a few hours researching online and find many many complaints about all BlackVue products. Any advice seems to require a PhD level of computer knowledge to figure out. Not sure what I will do at this point as I need a camera for liability purposes but this product has a very SHORT LIFESPAN for the expense.

I've emailed BlackVue multiple times and the direction is to 'open anyway' which runs 100% against having security in place regarding loading software. BlackVue has NOT arranged for the code to be on the Apple App Store which would validate the software is safe nor have BlackVue worked with Apple to gain 'identified developer' status, which would indicate approved software, safe to load.Very disappointed. No mention anywhere that to use the viewer you need to lower your security on computer.

Easy installation and easy to use . worked great for 4 months , and then BAM!!! nothing !!! it kept repeating check SD card ...... I changed SD card twice and still does not work . Take your 200$ and throw it in the garbage , its the same as buying one of these , and dont make the mistake of buying a 3rd party SD card cuz it will come back and bite you in the butt .. Customer service is a sham and not helpfull .
