Bandai Tamagotchi 4U White ( Tamagotchi 4U White)

Long time lover of Tamagotchi since 1996, I decided to dip my toe into the pool of Japanese Color Tama's with this inexpensive White 4U model (which is in some cases MUCH cheaper than the other colors!). Very impressed with this, I've had it about 3 weeks now I believe and it's so much fun. I'll be buying a second shortly with a different colored shell, though it doesn't matter to me as I keep mine in crocheted covers anyway...The one VERY important thing I will say is this and I've not seen anyone else mention it- This model of Tamaotchi is made to work hand in hand with the 4U App, available to work on a very short list of android devices, most notably, the Nexus 7 2013 (2nd gen) tablet and the Samsung Galaxy S5 (only, the S4 and S6 will not work). Sorry Apple lovers- the 4U App won't run on iOS. By FAR the most economical way to do this is to get your hands on a Nexus 7 tablet but please be forewarned that the App will ONLY work with the Nexus 7 2ND GENERATION 2013. Do NOT make the mistake I did and accidentally purchase just a Nexus 7 2013 and think it will work because some of the Nexus 1rst Gens were still being made in early 2013... hence there can be some confusion! I wasted $80 on a tablet, only to have to turn right around and spend $150 on a second tablet to get the correct one!!I played with this Tama for about 2 weeks without having any connection to the App and yes, it gets boring using it in straight up Out of The Box condition. You get two games- Bowling, and a Space Game. There are several backgrounds and a few toys, etc. It's OK but won't blow you away. Now... connect it to the 4U App and it really starts to shine. At your fingertips is now a ton more clothes, meals, snacks, games, backgrounds for your living room, toys, etc. The App device and the Tama utilize NFC beaming to send items back and forth (and to each other as you can touch two together for interactions and games). It's this NFC beaming that makes it such a limited list of devices that will work with this. Only certain devices have a compatible NFC to beam to the Tama. There is so much more info on this online- Tamatalk, and Youtube vids, etc. There are guides for this online in English, and a version of the 4U app converted to English as well! This is a very fun toy... As far as batteries, I JUST had to change mine for the first time last night... so they lasted me almost exactly 3 weeks... if you're a serious player, get some rechargeable batteries..In short- if you're thinking about getting this device and NOT using the App with it, you might want to consider the Tamagotchi Ps, or a previous color version that doesn't require an App. Without the 4u App this would get pretty boring. If you have the ability to use the App with this though, it's really an awesome toy.Including a pic of my Neenetchi showing clothing and background from the App. SO cute!

Make sure you check if you have the right phone with the right NFC to be able to use this tamagotchi 4u to its full potential. Do a lot of research before you make the final decision to buy unless you just want it for some quick nostalgia. There are English patches but your phone's NFC has to be compatible. There are also a lot of English guides online to help you out. It is pretty lackluster without all of the other downloadable features.Overall, this was the best version for its price. Everything came looking as expected. It's really good for the nostalgia and it's pretty low maintenance! I've only had it for a little under a week but I still look forward to checking up on my tamagotchi and waiting for it to grow up!

My wife loves Tamagotchis. She had one as a kid, and when she saw this she knew she had to have it. It's a newer iteration of the '90s fad toy that was huge here in the States back then, but this one never left Japan.That being said, the Tamagotchi 4U is strictly in Japanese, which some may find daunting. It's designed for kids, so it uses simple hiragana characters as opposed to more complex kanji. Even if you don't speak Japanese at all, there are numerous guides online that detail the Tamagotchi 4U's interface and explain what each selection means.The newer Tamagotchi is a bit larger than what you'll remember, but it does much more. It has an NFC which means it can interface with a number of Android devices with an app you can sideload to your device. Even if you don't do that, there's still lots of fun to be had.

The media could not be loaded. Ok so I ordered on July 16 and it came on July 25 all the way from Japan to the US! 😲😍 super fast delivery. The product was brand new and everything was in Japanese. A lot of guides online so it was pretty east to figure out. But I did make use of my old galaxy s5 phone with nfc technology, I was able to download the English patch and many other cute content. I love this tamagotchi so much! It brought me back to my childhood and it matches perfectly with my gudetama tamagotchi!! Can't wait to add more to my collection! Of course, the actual product itself is super cute and nice and everything, I give bandai 5 stars for making it, but the reason I give only 3 is because this is supposed to be a new product, but I could tell by the packaging that this had been opened before.. there was tape over original tape that had been cut, dirty cut tape, and the top of the box was all smashed, and there is a small scuff on the bottom of my tamagotchi.

We loved this when we first got it. However, it’s been about 4 months and the screen won’t turn on anymore. It hasn’t been dropped or damaged in any way. My step daughter has played with it once every other weekend when she is with us. As she is with her mom most of the time and doesn’t take it with her. I don’t know who to reach out to to remedy. I would like the company to assist. Batteries work, the sounds are on, but screen is black. Is there a warranty?

Bear in mind that this product is in Japanese. There are guides and tutorials online of how to play.Tamagotchi 4U has fun elements in and of itself, but if you want to download new characters and items, you must have an NFC (Near-Field Connection) device to do so. Lists of compatible devices can be found online.Someone once described the 4U has having a more "sophisticated" feel compared to other Tamagotchis- I completely agree. The gameplay is more complex than other Tamagotchis with the player being able to "train" this Tamagotchi to learn basic skills and more advanced skills (such as training the Tamagotchi to brush its own teeth).Definitely recommend.

You can't change it into English. My Tamagotchi died within an hour of starting it up - to return it I have to pay $6.09 to drop it off..
