One Tough and Adaptable Can Holder!
With a little bit of bending of the frame with a reverse bar type gripper and some moderate pounding with a hard plastic car body hammer, I managed to get my Jerry Can to fit from side to side in the frame. After fitting to my gas can I went over the holder with high quality rust protecting black semigloss spray paint to make sure no amount of rain will make it rusty. After letting the holder dry thoroughly I mounted it to the adjustable mounting system of my Nissan trucks cargo bed.A large padlock on the over head strap and a small lock on the cans leverage sealing cap my camouflaged Jerry Can is good to go anywhere.I did fit the rubber mounting pads in their proper places for protecting the can with strong contact glue to keep them from coming off while driving at freeway speeds or removing the can. Otherwise they will easily come off the holders frame..All in all a very adaptable and sturdy gas can mounting system.Highly Recommended with a full five star rating!Frank in California

Better than expected!
There are times when you hesitate to buy online because things look different in person. This was better than expected! Very pleased with the paint job, Heavy Duty, " Jerry" gas can fits perfect. The seller even contacted me before shipping to make sure I understood measurements. Cheaper than others to.

It’s okay
It’s okay, some rust already forming after only a month but I plan to repaint it. Seems about the same as all the other Chinese mounts sold on here. Seems solid for what it is

In a world where you get what you pay for.......
.......along comes this awesome Smittybilt Jerry Can Holder! This thing is well built and the powdercoat is really nice. Please don't believe it will "float" at the back of your tire, there's a separate adapter available for that mounting (search "Smittybilt 2740 I-Rack", or "Intelligent Rack", here on Amazon or check "The Bay"). This Jerry Can Holder has mounting holes on both long sides and it should be pretty easy to fabricate some form of suitable mount for it. As mentioned in other reviews, there are a bunch of rubber isolaters to keep your metal can off of the metal frame, they're not really secure---you'll want to get some self stick insulation to replace this, but it's no issue, really. You can leave the isolators in place if you never plan on removing the can from the holder (parade queen, like my buddies Jeep!); otherwise they'll pop out when you pull the can.Overall, I'm really impressed at the quality and appearance of this thing for the money!

Great product even being *used*
Not the best looking welds but welded a lot better than the rest. Made from decent gauge material. The strap seems to attach well and doesn't look like it will stretch lose. My only thing is I wish there was a little bit of padding on the strap where it makes contact with the handle of the Jerry. I can fix that though. Fairly happy with the product even with it being *used*. If you're on the fence about saving a couple bucks and buying it *used*, do it!

More info
Original: The picture doesn't show it but the back side looks like the front (i.e. there are two other vertical bars each with 2 mounting holes). The black band goes around to engage a U latch through which you can put a small lock. No lock or bolts are supplied. There are four holes on the bottom so you could bolt the container to a rack to vertically store your gerry can. For example, if you have Gobi rack you can easily bolt the holder to the mesh screen. Notice in the photo there is a buckle on the bottom of the holder. There is also another U latch on the bottom intended for securing lower height jerry cans. The holder contains several small rubber pads that clip onto the metal bar to keep it from rattling. They are also on the bottom. All the pads are easily removable. I bought my 5 gal gerry can made by Midwest Can Company Model 5800 [...] It fits perfectly. Check its dimensions against your can. If you bought the 5 gal (baby blue plastic) water can from Pep Boys, it'll fit in this holder, but you'll have to remove all the rubber pads because it'll be very tight. Also you won't easily be able to use the black metal strap because the Pep Boys water can is a bit tall and it will not enage the U latch. To lock it using the metal strap you'll need a lock with at least a 2'' neck, but a small cable lock would be easier. Some folks might want to mount the holder to a bike rack, but I'd recommend against it. For example, the Yakima rack has 4 bolt holes to which you could rig up the holder, but Yakima recommends not exceeding 75 pounds on a two bike rack. Two bikes at 25 lbs + gerry can (with 5 gals of gas) + container will be about 86lbs. The holder is quite strong and as folks have stated, if you get the right Gerry can, it should serve you well.Update: I'm downrating the rating. First time out the welds broke on the locking strap.
