Does an excellent job of sharpening ceramic knives. It is easy to use.

This sharpener is smaller than what I had originally, about half the size. It sounds ratty and not as strong. Still, it does sharpen those ceramic knives but takes much longer.

My wife dropped one of her brand new ceramic knives while unboxing them! Unfortunately, this resulted on a sizable chip in the edge.Being an accomplished honer of steel knives, i attempted - and succeeded - in removing the chip. However, I was not able to achieve the edge desired.This Kyocera sharpener allowed me to get the knife usably sharp. About 20 passes on each side to get the angle, and a few more passes to sharpen. However . . ..It could be more powerful. It is very easy to bog the motor down.It does eat batteries.It did, and and will to continue to do what I asked of it, however.I will be purchasing a Work Sharp device next time.

I have had a set of Kyocera knives for about 5 years and they had lost their original sharpness. Kyocera will sharpen your knives for free but by the time you pay for shipping both ways this looked like the best option. The knives I have are 7", 5" and 3" long and the only one that I cannot get the full length sharpened is the 3". On that one I was able to get about 1/2 of the length sharpened. The other two were able to be sharpened on the whole length. It was easy and took only a short time and it really made a difference. I think it was well worth the purchase.

Bought the knife sharper for a present, can't return it because it's after the return date. The batteries aren't srtong enough to keep the wheel going. Had put in brand new batteries. It's not worth the money. Very embarrassing to give something you thought was a nice present and it turns out to be nothing but a piece of crap.

Once I got the hang of how much pressure to apply while sharpening, this unit has restored my Kyocera knives back to new, sharp condition.

Its a pretty straight forward device. Yes it is under powered, but if you follow the directions and "allow 10 seconds" per side it works great. Sure I'd love it to take 2 seconds, but I'm sure the price of the sharpener would be double with a plug in motor. I does what it says, it sharpens your ceramic knives quickly and easily. Now that Kyocera's "free lifetime sharpening" ends up costing $20 now I think its worth it.

WILL NOT RESTORE THE FACTORY EDGE ON THEIR OWN CERAMIC KNIVESIt is SLOW at best.It is fiddly to use successfully.The motor stalls easily.Unit is apparently incapable of putting a true razor edge on ANYTHING - not good steel, not bad steel, and DEFINITELY NOT on Kyocera's own ceramic knives!Save your money for something better.
