Combined Answer Book For Calculus Third and Fourth Editions

This text is a complete solution guide to both Editions 3 and 4 of Spivak's Calculus text. The answers are detailed and aid in learning solution techniques.

A must have if you are self-studying Spivak's fantastic but challenging Calculus 3rd or 4th edition textbook. The textbook and the solutions book are both much spendier than past editions of other well-known Calculus textbooks (Larson, Stewart, Thomas, Briggs, etc.), but the potential to learn so much more from Spivak more than makes up for it. Note that this book does not contain solutions to all of the book problems. That being said, based on a quick comparison, it appears that the solutions missing from this book are the ones that are already provided in the back of the textbook. So between the textbook provided answers, and the solutions in this book, it appears that all questions have answers or solutions provided.

Easy reading and very informative

Tried this book as part of my independent studying. It was way over my head as I really had trouble with the practice problems. Unless you have a solid background in proof methodology, induction, sequences/series and advanced algebra (my pre-calc course didn't include these topics), you need not apply for any of Spivak's high level works. I excelled in pre-calculus at a junior college where only 20% passed but have quickly realized that this is no indication one is good at mathematics. Now I'm reconsidering my pursuit of a Bachelors in mathematics. This is no knock on Spivak, I'm just warning you not to purchase the book until you are ready. Fortunately, I bought it new and returned it for a full refund. I wanted to teach math, but now I might pursue something more practical like accounting.

I had to use Spivak's calculus book for a college course that was kind of like an introduction to analysis. I had a really hard time with some of the homework that was assigned from it. I had a hard time finding solutions online, but this book saved the day for me. I ended up going from doing terribly on every homework assignment to getting the best score on the final. I highly recommend this solution book to anyone who does exercises from the main book. Just make sure you use it responsibly! The point of looking up a solution shouldn't be to provide answers for your homework, but rather so you know that you are doing everything right.

Using this to supplement my Calculus 4th edition I was finally able to understand some of the book. Most of it was problem based learning so having the solutions really helped as I was able to check my answers and make sure I was learning the material right. I would highly recommend.

Se requiere de cierta formación en el tema, ya que se obvian u omiten "pasos intermedios". Sin embargo, es ideal para abordar el tema de forma autodidacta, junto con el texto del mismo autor.

Mis cursos de cálculo en la licenciatura fueron con este libro clásico de Spivak. Seguirá siendo uno de mis favoritos. Además, la entrega fue muy rápida sin complicaciones y el producto llego en muy buenas condiciones. Muy recomendable.
