Meguiar's Two Step Headlight Restoration Kit, Headlight Cleaner Restores Clear Car Plastic and Protects from Re-Oxidation, Includes Headlight Coating and Cleaning Solution - 4 Count (1 Pack)

I used Meguiar's Two Step Headlight Restoration on my car’s foggy headlights, and overall, it made a noticeable difference. The kit is easy to use, and I liked that it didn’t require any power tools—just some elbow grease. The cleaner did a good job of removing oxidation, and the second step (the coating) helped restore clarity and added a nice protective layer.That said, if your headlights are severely oxidized, it does take some effort to get the best results. It’s not an instant fix, but if you follow the directions and put in the work, it definitely improves headlight clarity. For the price, it’s a great alternative to more expensive restoration options.

This stuff worked so well and so easily that I feel obligated to review it. I used a different product last year. It took quite a lot of time (about 2+ hours) and work to clean the plastic and then buff it back to something like a clear, glossy-ish surface that the headlight could shine through. It didn't really look good, the headlights were not very bright, and they yellowed again within six months.I picked this Meguiars product for my second try because of the protector solution, which appeared to do two things I wanted: a) it fills in the sanding scratches on the plastic lens and makes it shiny and transparent again without any buffing or polishing b) it will prevent the lens from yellowing again so quickly.I was totally right about the first one. You basically sand off the lens with one pad and the cleaning solution, taking off the yellow layer of the plastic and leaving it white, almost bluish, but totally obscured with fine scratches. Then you spray on the protector and the scratches get filled in, leaving the lens looking clear, like slightly wavy glass. It achieved this very well, and easily. Total time less than one hour, including waiting between coats. Didn't even have to rub very hard.I don't yet know about the second one. Too early to tell, it's only been 4 days. The protector has cured, the headlights look very clear, and they are definitely throwing more light on the road in front of me. I will just have to watch and see if they yellow. I will probably ask the manufacturer if it would help to refresh the protector periodically.In sum, I am very pleased with it, both ease of application and great results. I will try to remember to update this review after 6 months or a year, once I know something about the longevity of the application.

Worked exactly as advertised. The oxidation came right off, and the final coating kept them from fogging up again. Great value and a noticeable difference in nighttime visibility. Definitely recommend before replacing expensive headlights!

This is an easy to use product for lightly or moderately fogged headlights. The best part of this kit is the sealant spray. There’s enough material in this kit to do as many as four or five sets of headlights. The best part of this kit is the UV sealant. It is easy to apply, drys smooth, and keeps your headlights looking like new for many months or even a year. I cleaned my son‘s 2014 Forester headlights last year and the lights still looks like new. He does get some shade from trees at work which helps the sealent last longer. If your car is frequently in the sun, it may only last six or seven months, but that’s still a long time.For severer headlight damage, you will likely need to purchase a kit that includes wet sandpaper and a buffer that attaches to a drill. I’ve used these type of kits as well, but I always put on the Maguire’s sealant at the end of the process.You can also buy the sealant separate from the kit.

BUT we did find that it improved the lenses clarity somewhat - just not as much as we had expected. We have used other brands for this a few years ago but over time the issue returns on most plastic lenses - as did ours. Not sure what the previous brand we used was but it definitely did a much nicer job and lasted several years. This vehicle sits outside most of the time and so it catches a lot of sun rays. I can't say it didn't work but I can say it did not work as well as others we have used in the past.
