Sonnet T-4668 Ken-Tech 2" Number LCD Atomic Alarm Clock, Silver

I bought this for my mother who cannot remember the date or day of the week. I chose it because it gives both. She LOVES it. The numbers are large so she can see it from anywhere in the room and it is attractive as well. It keeps time well because it is atomic so I don't have to worry about whether she has the correct time. We have found it so useful that I am planning to buy one for my house.

My main concern was finding a clock with big enough characters I could read from across the room. Easy to set, I just put in batteries (not included) and when it received the signal I changed it to my time zone. Seems to be accurate, if it's not then it's not enough for me to notice it. Numbers are big enough and dark enough for me to read from across the room (15 - 20ft). Also the clock has no illumination - as in, cannot read it in the dark. It can adjust for daylight savings time on its own. Just so you know some signals interfere with this clock being able to receive the time signal and it would not set. My mother lives in a building that likes to cater to the older crowd. Rent includes a subscription to a medical alert button. The receiver for the 'buttons' are all along the main hallways once you get off the elevator. At first I could not understand why the new clock would not work. So I took it to my house and in no time it had received the signal. Took it back to her place and the problem was back. I have to set it manually for her. I decided to keep it as the numbers are large.

This is a radio controlled wall clock. Seems to get the signal on a regular basis, has nice large numbers. Works as advertized. One note about any radio control, or so called "atomic" clock, they work by receiving a special VLF (Very Low frequency) signal from WWVB in Boulder Colorado. If you live in an area like a valley or near a hillside any radio controlled may have difficulty receiving the time synchronization signal. They also tend to be slightly directional, so reception in one wall may not be as good as another wall facing another direction. If you are having trouble receiving the signal on a daily basis try other location near a window. The signal is strong enough from WWVB that the signal is receivable in the continental united states, east or west costs. Your reception depends on the local and electrical conditions around your location.

I bought this clock for my elderly mother who has dementia and macular degeneration. Unfortunately in her case this clock is not helping her. I have it mounted right next to her recliner and she should be able to read it but can't. Its not back lite so you can't see it at night and its difficult to read in a room not well lite (because of her macular degeneration). After 2 1/2 weeks of use the clock was not tracking with the date and day, it actually took itself back to the year 2000 (and this is 2011). I reset the year and date/day information and I'm waiting to see if it holds this time. I don't know what other alternatives I have to help my aging mother know the time and date, wish this would have worked for her.

I would give this zero stars if I could because the item I received is not what is pictured here. I bought this for my elderly father who has trouble with vision and with remembering the date. What I got was a round digital clock about 4 inches in diameter with a suction cup on the back. Needless to say I am returning it and don't know if I will reorder because they are likely to send me another one like the one I received. This has never happened to me on Amazon before.

I didn't read the directions, but I put in a AA battery, hit the receive button on the back, and about 20 minutes later it showed the correct time. I use the stand on the back, but you can also hang it on a wall nail. It's bigger than I thought, about 9 inches in each direction, and the big letters about 2 inches tall. The letters are nice and clear. It would be nicer, in my opinion, if the clock was the smaller size of the inner rectangle, and it didn't have that big "Ken-Tech" writing. Also, to use the alarm setting, isn't that intuitive. Overall, a really nice atomic clock, and at a great price. I knocked off a star, because it didn't update correctly when the time change came like my little Hito atomic clock did. Even though I had to manually update it, it's still a nice clock.

I chose this clock, not just for its jumbo LCD time display (my vision and focus are weak and poor, especially in the mornings), but also for its date and day of the week display (good when I wake and need to know date too!). The automatic date and time settings make this a hassle-free instrument. Its hands-free, battery operated features are so helpful to me in my condition. I can't get to the clock to adjust the time when the electricity goes out or when Daylight Savings Time takes effect (can't walk and am bedridden). My physical issues are due to a neuro-muscular disease/disorder (supposedly supported by MDA) that is both debilitating and degenerative and involves the progressive loss of coordination and muscle strength leading to motor incapacitation and inevitable confinement to a wheelchair. In my experience, MDA is a JOKE! I have learned that MDA attempts to make everyone believe that they are out to help people like me, but instead, exploit us for their own selfish monetary gain! During my lifetime of 45 years, suffering with this horrible disease/disorder, realistically, MDA hasn't done anything -- not even a simple treatment! This clock is mounted on the wall in my bedroom; it always keeps good time.
