I loved that the lock was light, compact, and easy to use. It gave me peace of mind when I would go into a grocery store, for instance, as I could quickly and easily lock the bike to a bike stand or sign post.As per the product literature, this lock is not the most secure as it could be cut using power tools or bolt cutters quite easily but for its weight and compactness it’s a great option for bicycle touring where you just need something to deter the temptation of rolling the bike away. Loved the product.

These are definitely a deterrent. They are solid and heavy. I'm a little leery about trusting them alone to secure my bicycle but I really think they would do the trick. Certainly they are enough for me to be able to run into a quick store. Using them to add extra security on my bike rack while traveling.

and consider this a deterrent, not a primary anti-theft device.My use case involves a foldable bike (Brompton) that i generally carry with me (into the office, onto the bus/train, etc.). Therefore, I wanted an extremely small and lightweight lock (I hang it off the underside of my seat) for those rare instances that I need mild protection (quick run into the store, etc.). It serves that purpose wonderfully. I also recently took this lock to disneyland to lock up our stroller when in line for rides and it similarly was useful in that scenario as well.Minor nits...moving the numbers into position is a bit awkward since when locked it's not super flexible (it's a pretty sturdy ring shape). So you might have to manuever your head so you can see the numbers ok. Additionally, the width of the dials is pretty narrow, so if you have normal sized or large fingers, it's a bit awkward to move one dial at a time (takes some finesse).I was also surprised it didn't click to lock very easily. To lock it, the combo must be input and the button depressed for the loose end to slide into place easily. I was expecting a simpler ratchet mechanism that would allow quicker locking.Keep in mind, with the right tools, this would be a pretty simple device to overcome, but for simple locking that is lightweight and unobtrusive, this is an excellent choice.

When I bought this I understood well that it's an overpriced piece of rope. Its function is to be really light and stop some idiot from just waltzing off with your bike when it's parked for 12 minutes: it's zero protection against a determined thief. The selling point is to be so light and compact that I can just keep it on the bike at all times without having to contemplate the weight penalty. I get it.The problem is the lock mechanism apparently randomly "forgets" the exact combination you have set. I returned to the bike outside a shop to dial in the combo I set and it didn't open. I had go off to get internet access to find out "this is a thing" and then I had to sit on my ass for twenty minutes fiddling with the number dials until it finally opened. I was on the verge of taking a cab home and returning with a hacksaw the next morning.Why they didn't just make these with fixed combos is beyond me. It's three digits. You can try every combo in a reasonable amount of time. Apparently it was too hard to get a proper combo reset mechanism working. So why did they bother?In summary: I'd give it three or four stars for its job as an overpriced, ultra-light, compact, low security lock, except it randomly decided to lock me out of my own bike. If they fix this and issue these with permanent factory set combinations that don't randomly stop working, I would revise my review to three or four stars.

Fits in my bag under my seat, locks the bike up very well, I would recommend this in a heartbeat.

Very easy to use to lockup bike on quick stops. Long length & is flexible too. Combination rollers are well made & stay on numbers you select.More difficult to cut thru than even thicker round styles.Very satisfied with this lock. Wrap it around my handlebars after removal & click my drink to it with a carabinier.Use in combination with a flat metal expanding unfolding type, on longer stays. Mount this lock up high as it is more difficult to use bolt cutters up high. If mounted lower, they can step on the cutters to get thru quicker.

Arrived much sooner than predicted! I was worried I wouldn't have it before my scheduled ride, but it arrived super early. Extremely well packaged. I've been eyeing one of these for years and finally bought one. I'm not disappointed - very easy to setup and use, and now I have that security when I leave my bike behind. Worth the little bit of extra weight to have that security.......thank you!

The 30" Ottolock is a small, lightweight lock which I rate as a great 5 min lock. I use it at the park when I have to go to the restroom or at subway/jimmy johns when I want to get some lunch quickly midway through my bike ride and not have to keep one eye on my bike at all times. Plus it gives me some protection while I go to the bathroom. Recently I used it on the two day RSVP (Ride from Seattle to Vancouver and Party) bike event, at the rest stops when there are a hundred bikes scattered everywhere, none of them locked... This bright green (visible) lock is the perfect deterrent to make thieves look at the other 99 unlocked bikes there (philosophy: you don't have to be faster than the bear, only faster than the guy next to you). If you use this lock, don't think of it like a U-Lock but more like a kids curly cable lock. It'll stop the casual opportunity thief and slow a career thief down. This is exactly what I needed and meets my use-case perfectly; light, small and strong enough.As far as length goes, the short Ottolock is fine with me. it's small enough to fit into my seat bag along with my spare tube, CO2 cartridge, tire irons, and small snacks. I only lock the front tire and frame to whatever structure is there.

Easy to carry.Decent security for times when you are close to the bike.Good for bike packing or travelling with your bike.

It is a three bands of titanium wrapped in harden plastic. I use it to secure my bike helmet.

the combination mechanism is cheap and hard to work with. I would not recommend.
