MY Dog Won't Wear Them
I think these are great. I had bought my dog some little moccasins and some booties to try to encourage him to go out in the occasional snow we have here in southern washington, and I thought he might also like not getting his feet soaking in cold rain. Well, the stiffer shoes he was NOT having , he wouldn't even let me put them on him. So when I saw these, I thought, great, they're more flexible like socks, I can stretch them and get them on his feet more easily and they will stay up, and they'll protect his feet better than nothing. Well, I got them on him all right, and they do stay up thanks to the velcro straps, but then when I set him on the ground he refused to walk in them. He just looked at me with this pathetic look like "Dad, why do you want to CRIPPLE me?" and honestly, they didn't look to me like they should cause so much trouble, but he tried to take one step, couldn't feel his feet the way he was used to, and just sat down and gave up. He looked about like he was going to cry; the only time i have *ever* seen such a pathetic look on his face was when I found him in the shelter and he wasn't sure anyone wanted to take him away from there. He adores me, worships me, and to have the light of his life put these things on him that made it so hard to walk, when he already has a bum hip that means he favors one leg, well, it must have felt like a horrible betrayal or something, that I actually expected him to try to get around in these things. I knew I was well beaten; he was just going to sit there and stare balefully at me until I took them off. So of course I did.People who have had success with dog shoes say "oh, it takes them awhile to get used to it, but they adjust." yeah, if they actually *try* to move in them, they get the hang of it after a bit. but my little terrier just plopped himself down and refused. At least these were less expensive than the other ones. They might be soft and flexible enough to convince some other dog to try to get used to them. I'd recommend them as an inexpensive trial if you're not sure whether your dog will take to being shod; they are well-made for what they are, though of course they won't last as long as more substantial ones if worn on concrete and asphalt for long. But If they can adjust to these, it might make it easier to adjust to more constructed booties.I'll be selling or giving them away -- my dog is annoyed enough at me about his yellow slicker raincoat, but at least that doesn't impede his movement and contact with the ground. I guess i'm stuck with the barefoot contessa (or count, rather).

Awesome for my senior dog on kitchen floor, ordered a 2nd set!
We watched my senior dog with dementia (15-year-old, 15 lb Coton de Tulear - same family as Havenese, Maltese, and Bichons) push himself up almost effortlessly (well, for him) from the vinyl kitchen floor and walk confidently just minutes after we put these socks on him. Brought tears to my eyes. This is the best $10 I've spent in a very long time.Without the gripper socks, he would get his front legs splayed out and couldn't push himself up to sitting then standing, and would cry and moan in frustration until we rescued him and put him on his feet (which aren't too steady now anyway). I gave these a try against some bad reviews on all dog socks. I thought he might pick at the socks, try to flick them off, or refuse to walk with them on as reported by other pet owners. Thankfully, he took right to them!I'm glad I chose this style of sock with the fully rubberized bottom and not the kind with pawprint grippers that are for inside only. He can wear these to potty, even in wet grass. It took 2 of us to put them on (he never liked his feet touched, too late to change that now**). Removing and putting back on indoor-only socks would have been too stressful for everyone.I ordered size Large and they are a good fit for his paws and nails, not tight but definitely not loose and floppy. Size chart in listing was very helpful. The sock part feels thick, but not too thick, and stretched easily enough to put his paw in and pull up his leg. The sock portion goes further up his leg than some other sock listings making it easy to put the velcro straps in place.I can see where younger, more rambunctious dogs may take exception to wearing gripper socks. He certainly would have in his younger days. But for the old guy now, they are a miracle. We don't have to see or hear him struggle on the non-carpeted flooring. He has some of his independence back! Not this this makes or breaks a purchase decision, but these came in a thick clear plastic zip-top envelope, not a cheap plastic bag or wrap. It's reusable and great for storing the socks or your own personal items.I already ordered another set.**Update after a few days: Probably a no-brainer, but trim the nails as they can poke through the socks before you get the paws into the bottom. Careful not to get hung up on dew claws, too. Was able to put them on by myself without much resistance, as if he knew they helped him. Mr. "Don't Touch My Feet" has had a transformation!

These shoes are more like socks my dog has only worn them four times for short walks and the bottom is getting worn out. They're good but i know i will have to replace them very soon. When i walk her i have to constantly watch her feet to make sure they dont fall off

Works Great for Toy Poodle
These are perfect for my need - something to cover & protect the dressings on my toy poodle's foot during walks as she recovers from a foot injury. I'll also use them on all four feet when we get snow. She's gotten used to wearing them for walks and no longer fights me when I put them on. I think they're more comfortable for her than the little rubber boots I tried before; she refused to budge & I think they were too long for her claws. No problem with these socks, though. Read the chart, measure, & the size will be right.I purchased these in a larger size to go over dressings plus a protective sock, and despite the velcro, they fell off during her first walk. Then I tried SCOTCH TAPE to hold them on. It works great & the socks stay on for extended walks on grass and sidewalks. They show no signs of wear after a week or so. The rubber foot parts protect her from damp grass & small puddles, and the knit socks keep her toes warm. A great purchase.
