Bit lacking in power, but overall a reasonable VFM CD player and radio, best for moderate volume use indoors
I used to have a more powerful Panasonic ghetto blaster CD Player/Radio/Cassette but after well over 25 years sterling service it finally gave up the ghost, it did not really owe me anything. I needed a portable CD Player with a radio, and having read various reviews I went for this one. I guess you get what you pay for, this was relatively cheap, but it was also fairly lightweight construction, feeling a bit plasticy. It is easy enough to operate, and functions fine, but it lacks a bit of oomph. When I needed to use it in a large riding arena, then outside, to play a music CD for our horse to do a dressage routine too it proved to be lacking the wattage (only 2 Watts available) , and when turned up to full volume the sound distorted a bit. With hindsight I should have picked a more powerful player for the uses we were planning to put it to, but that would have cost more. I think this will be fine for internal use, say in a kitchen, where only modest volume levels are required. But if you sometimes want to rack up the volume, or use it outside, then better go for something with a bit more power.

Good value for money.
This little CD player exceeded my expectations and lived up to my high regard for Phillips products, although this is actually made in PRC (China).Sound quality is good, could be better, but is perfectly satisfactory.I found the row of push buttons on the top difficult to get used to- (kept pressing the wrong button!) until I added self adhesive coloured spots, i.e. green for start, red for stop, and yellow for pause.A small improvement would be if the window displaying the CD's track number was illuminated, as it is difficult to see.Excellent value for money, and easy to operate.(with coloured buttons!!)

This does not reflect badly on the player which provided an excellent radio reception and strong sound for music
I made this purchase as I needed something to play a calming cd to help me fall asleep. It failed in this respect as the bass was too strong. This does not reflect badly on the player which provided an excellent radio reception and strong sound for music; it was just not suitable for my needs.Aside from that I did have problems with the white, plastic control buttons where the different functions were difficult to detect as they were not defined well. I sent it back as unsuitable for my needs and received a full refund.

Impressive performance, and a reasonable price.
Wanted a neat CD player to keep in the back bedroom with my CD collection - even though they are all on the MP3 player, sometimes I like to listen to the original while I'm doing a jigsaw or some sewing. I'm so pleased with this player - very tidy, handy carry handle, easy CD loading, good tone, impressive volume, with the added benefit of FM radio (good reception) and a jack for the MP3 if I'm so inclined. Very happy with this purchase, and would recommend to anyone.

Excellent value product spoiled by CD player quirks
I bought this product primarily for its audio input facility which is very handy for linking up an mp3 player for output through the AZ105S speakers, and works well. The CD player has one major quirk, however, which is a considerable disappointment. When playing a disc straight through, it is unable to cope with any CDs or CDRs which have track boundaries occurring within a continuous piece of music without inserting an annoying brief period of silence at the track changeover point when there should be no silence at all! I'm used to such problems with mp3 files, but have never encountered it with a CD player before. As a pioneer of CD technology, surely Philips could do better than this?

Skips and buzzes
The CDs skip slighty when playing and turning the sound up to anything remotely loud results in a loud buzzing sound. The sound quality when it is not skipping or buzzing is fine. Only the front of the CD player is silver, the rest is white. If you are looking for cheap over quality then this is for you. It's the sort of player you would have knocking around a workshop or garage, not something you would want to sit and listen to for a quality listening experience.

Good quality for what I wanted it for
Got it for the nursery to play lullabies to my baby when she's down to sleep. Seems a good quality for now, very lightweight which is great a I transfer it to other rooms on occasions, works well, sounds good, radio tunes quite easily too and the signal is clear to all the major stations. Happy for now, if something changes or break I'll be updating this review.

I do like this neat little player
I do like this neat little player,It has good sound, and sits nicely on my kitchen work surface. The only issue I have with it is the large white volume and tuner controls, especially the tuner one as it is annoyingly easy to move it off the station, and as the the window showing the stations is on the side, I find I have to move it around to see it!
