Quick, easy install on '04 325iT. OK sound quality, stable BT connection
Overall, this little unit is highly recommended. Install took less than 30 mins, connection to my iPhone has been quick and stable, and the value for money is great. I'm sure the sound quality on some of the nicer units like the Grom is better, but at this point I'm using a 17 year old stock stereo and speakers- we're definitely not focused on audiophile quality here. And the install is totally invisible- no external controls, no change to the dash.Specific to the sound quality, it's clear and clean (no buzzing, no static) but you can tell the lower frequencies are clipped. The sound isn't as "full" as my previous FM modulator, but I also don't have to deal with the static from that unit, so it's a win overall.A few more details:-The cigarette lighter is always hot in an E46. So make sure you tap power for this unit where you want it - if you run it into an always-hot power source, it's always on and will drain your battery/be constantly connected to your phone.-I ran mine into the head unit wiring harness with a couple of taps. The purple wire with a white stripe is switched 12V, and the solid brown wire is ground. (as always, YMMV and check with your own multimeter before tapping your car's wiring.) The power draw of this unit is very low and I valued convenience and speed over perfection. It's easy enough to pull 12V directly from the fuse box, but I didn't.-The 10-pin plug goes in with the arrow facing up. Seems obvious in retrospect, but that wasn't spelled out in the directions.-There are several good locations to find E46 radio removal DIYs. It's pretty simple- pop off two pieces of trim, pull two Phillips head screws, and the unit slides right out.Overall, this is the best combination of convenience, ease of install, value and minimal modification to the dash. If your goal is the absolute best sound quality, spend the extra money on a higher-end unit.

Great value and quality
My only gripe is that the first one I received went from playing great stereo to mono after making a fizzling sound. It was quickly and courteously replaced.Easily plugged into the aux port. The hardest part of the installation is taking everything apart. If you jump it off the cigarette lighter, as suggested, it stays on all the time. I didnt care for that and found the power line into the radio. This doesn't auto reconnect, a small gripe, I guess.Overall, I'm very pleased with the sound quality, clarity and volume, though I did raise the line input a little to make the bluetooth match the radio level.Since I saw the question, I'll say here that this Does Not handle phone calls, though notifications, maps directions and ringtones do come through .Great value, and good quality. Will purchase again if I ever need another!

Mediocre sound and difficult to wire the power
The sound quality is much less than my 2004 BMW 330xi speakers are capable of producing. The radio and CD player sounds much better. I wired the red wire to the purple and white wire at the back of the radio and the black wire to the thicker brown wire. It did it by cutting back the tape wire harness about an inch and shaving the insulation off the purple and white wire and using a pin to separate the wire strand and then putting the red soldered wire end through the purple wire and taping it together. The brown wire was thick enough to poke a hole through the wire and put the black soldered wire end through it. I taped up both separately and then securely wire tied the wire bundle together to make sure nothing could move. There is a good YouTube video on how to remove the E46 trim and easily remove the stereo. The entire process took about 3 hours and I am not thrilled about my wiring job. It works, it is a decent fix for not being able to connect my phone any other way, but mediocre sound quality. Wiring this way requires the ignition key auxillary power on or the car on for the bluetooth device to be powered.

Decent product, slight loss of low/high frequencies.
E46 (2003 325i) review here. Decent product for the price. First unit that was sent to me had an issue where sound was mainly coming from one set of speakers (driver front) and low volume from the rest. (I previously had the BMW AUX in 3.5mm cable installed and it works correctly. Re-installed that to trouble shoot and it works fine.)Second unit was sent to me and works great. Overall there is a small loss in low and high frequencies as compared to the BMW AUX in jack. This could be due to the product, BT in general, or the fact that a direct AUX cable is better. I tested these back to back and was able to verify the difference.

great product but....
I bought this product to install on my 02 BMW. the installation was very easy but my BMW was built before September 2002 so it doesn't work with my radio. in search of a different radio. I gave this a 3 star rating because it would have been nice to know that my BMW didn't have the right radio in it because it was built before Sept. in 2002.

Don’t buy this. Get a new stereo.
This didn’t work right. First, only one side had music playing. Second, even when the car was back on the radio mode, I could faintly hear the Bluetooth playing through the stereo. Third, when you power off the car or radio, the Bluetooth module stays on, so my phone wouldn’t disconnect even when I walked away from the car. That was annoying.

Good quality
Good product. Worth the money. When you adjust the sound with your phone it beeps and sounds crisp through your speakers. Not China junk. They put some effort into this product. Pairs with your phone when get in the car so no having to reconnect to Bluetooth every time.
