I’ve been wanting one of these for a few years. Finally got one, and it did not disappoint! I have about 10 crystal prisms hanging in my sunroom. They scatter delightful little rainbows around the room. But this Axicon suncatcher is something else. And I mean that both aesthetically and technically. Its rainbows dwarf the little rainbow sprites from the prisms. Technically, this is not a crystal prism. If you are a teacher that wants to demonstrate how white light is diffracted into the color spectrum, this may not be what you want. But it still throws a huge sunburst of rainbows. Each stripe is its own elongated rainbow of colors. It’s very vibrant, very large, and dramatic. (Would be great for portrait photography.) This, like all prisms, HAS to be hung in direct sunlight. Not just a bright window. It’s best to hang it in a window that gets morning or evening sun, so the sunlight hits it from the side. Overhead, afternoon sun won’t work. The silver hoop that holds it is plastic painted to look like metal. But if it’s just going to be hung in a window and left alone, it should last for years. I never hang anything on suction cups anymore, so I can’t comment on those. It does *not* come with a chain or clip or anything attached. I added the chain in my video in order to hold it better. Overall, very happy with this purchase. 🙂

The large, heavy duty prism light catcher is great. The lighter piece that they include is not.

It's heavy with a nice looking silver plated ring and they give you a robust suction hook. In the pictures it gives the impression that a dazzling rainbow will be projected on a distant wall--that is accurate and it is quite the show. Just make sure there is direct sunlight on it. I was able to see the colorful spires 30 feet from the window.

So, big thing is, if you buy this, make sure you have a window where light comes in and hits the wall very distinctly at one point in the day. You need a lot of sun. I feel that they are well made, and the suction cups work well. I see very little difference between the two prism types on the wall. They both make long strokes of rainbow. Im glad I got these on sale, but I think they are still super cool if you have a good window for it. Mine only makes rainbows around sunset. When I was a kid we had glass prisms that made even bolder randomized rainbows everywhere, which I prefer, but in the day and age of buying poor quality stuff with false advertising on amazon is here so I'm glad I went to this just because they do make rainbows and it is pretty neat.

A favorite with the kids. The rainbows they make and epic and very bold. It’s always fun when the sun comes through. We have one in our daughter’s room and one in our living room. Would definitely recommend.

The heavy glass nice one makes very skinny not great rainbows. The cheap cardboard one is great, with much more intense rainbows (pictured) but not keeping for the price. Returning. Needs very bright direct sun.

Doesn’t seem to work too well. I was hoping for more from this. Still works and looks pretty, just not as dramatic as I expected it to look. Lightweight and the suction holds well on the window

I didnt' expect to receive a free cardboard version as well! Supposedly it's for your car but I just have it in the office now. It's really nice and I'm used to all the rainbows on the wall now. It's just a great addition to the living room and came in perfect condition! I read something about them being scratched or the "foil" being broken off. None of that happened to mine. I installed it about 10 months ago and I don't wanna miss it. The suction cup is great to it came off once a couple months ago but besides that everything else is flawless! It's also hanging on a glass door which is being opened and closed atleast once a day!
