Chrome really is chrome!
I have been using an original Club since 1998. I used it to protect my Miata while I was in California, then used it to protect my Miata and other cars when I moved to France. I recently moved back from Paris to Colorado, and, although my original Club was as good as new, I decided to give it to my neighbor for his MG. The Club LX comes in red, blue or chrome. I was hoping that the chrome really was chrome, and not some silver, sparkly paint. I'm happy to confirm that it is chrome. The bar is covered with a clear-plastic sheath. The keys have changed. Now they are the "European dimpled, house-key" kind. These are much harder to duplicate. The other difference I noticed (versus the original Club) is that the bar automatically locks in place as you extend it, so you no longer need to use your key to lock it. The Club LX seems to be very well-made -- even better that the original. The old version had keys that could be copied, although it was never a problem for me. I never had any thefts in America, but in Paris my cars were broken into a half-dozen times (in spite of alarm + Club), but my car was never stolen. The Club is easy to use, and it works. UPDATE: A year later, I'm still very happy with this Club, but the clear-plastic sheath has discolored and deformed from the heat and sunlight. It still looks OK, but not great.

Robust and peace of mind
"If someone wants to take it, they will"Yes, that statement rings true. However, this item is used to deter would be car thieves out for a simple joyride, so that they move on to an easier target. This item is easy to install and easy to remove once you get the hang of it. I used it with the key access facing the dashboard. Makes it a bit more challenging for those who have power or lock picking tools to try and defeat it. I like the weight of it, signaling that it will take some time if someone want to saw it. The bright red color makes it easy to see and would-be thieves will more than likely move on.This item gives another level of challenge for the joyrider thief to move on.

Does It’s Job
This does not come to play. It does exactly what it’s supposed to. Easy to use, very durable.

Well built
I went with the Club 1100 LX Series Steering Wheel Lock, Red, Large based on the bad reviews of the cheaper brands specifically the issues some had with the locking mechanism failing. I appears to be well built with a unique key and is quite heavy. I only have used it once so far when parking at an airport for the week while away. It fit securely on my 5th gen RAV however it left an indentation in the leather wrapped heated wheel covering. This may have been from installing it too tightly but I suspect it was from the weight of one end. It would be nice if they would provide a storage bag for when it's not in use.

Works great
Very well made and easy to use. Great deterrent for criminals. The entire internet is to make them look for an easier target. Any extra time is a greater risk of doing time.

Very Reliable, heavy duty, highly visible deterrent to car theft
I have always utilized the club despite having an alarm/security system in my car. It is an extra security measure that the car thief would have to consider before stealing your car. I really feel an extra sense of security knowing that I placed this on my car. It is not an eyesore and the new colors besides red is appealing to those who maintain nice looking cars. You could color code the club with the color of your car. I really like the silver club. The club is really heavy duty and the key area to unlock has a smooth mechanism. When placing on your steering wheel it locks automatically. You only need to unlock the club. A very worthy investment to assist in protecting your car.

Comprehension Deductible $2000 Guarantee no longer valid in Hawaii, Texas, & Wisconsin.
I got the silver one, as I heard the ones with colored coating start to smell. I bought a MasterLock version at Walmart for $20 and was extremely disappointed. It didn't come out long enough to stay secure on my wheel! (2006 Chevy Malibu). This one is durable, lightweight, easy to use, and seems to work as a great deterrent.I did have to dock them a star, because I filled out the registration, and they mailed it back with a letter stating that New York is no longer the only excluded state for the deductible comprehension payment. Apparently, due to law changes, Hawaii, Texas, & Wisconsin are now excluded. This does seem to be the highest rated steering wheel lock on the market, however.

Obviously won't stop a determined thief but will probably cause an opportunistic one to move on.
OK, let's just acknowledge that this isn't going to stop a truly determined thief. If they want your car bad enough, they'll get by this, but, in general, why bother. It's a target rich environment. Most opportunistic thiefs will probably not bother. Also, frankly, I drive a pretty "nerdy" car that not too many people express a real interest in owning. That might help some too. Let's move on. This is a solid and easy to use extra deterrent against mischief. Mine had no sticky residue, but if yours does, I'd highly recommend you pick up some "Goo Gone," which will probably remove it. In any event, I recommend that every household has a bottle of "Goo Gone" around anyhow because it's so useful to have around. There, two birds with one stone.
