Best silicone pot holder I've ever used.
I have 4 other silicone pot holders and they're very stiff and hard to use. They do work well for trivets and can go directly in the dishwasher or sink of water to be washed, but as a pot holder they're way too stiff. These new OXO Good Grips Pot Holders are wonderful! I bake artisan bread in a 7 quart cast iron dutch oven which has to be heated to 500 degrees and it's HOT, HOT, HOT! The first time I baked the bread in the cast iron I used some heavy leather pot holders and 500 degrees was just too hot for them and they were singed. That's when I picked up these pot holders. They work perfectly. They're flexible and they have a mitt to slip your hand into which makes for very easy maneuvering of hot and heavy pans. I don't feel ANY heat coming through these and we're talking 500 degrees of heat...that's pretty impressive. I highly recommend these. I'm tempted to order more just to have an extra set in case they stop making them! They're very nice.

glad it was a gift
It is what it says it is, but better as a trivet. A bit stiff to hold a pot but then the price is fair.Gave it as a gift and happy it is for someone else.

Magnet stopped working? Not terribly flexible. But heat-proof.
There are trade-offs with this hot pad. We're not using it for "Pots" on a stove-top but for casseroles, breads, cookie sheets, etc. from the oven. You don't burn yourself, and I think it will hold up very well in that regard. But it isn't the most flexible pot-holder and sometimes it isn't as easy to get a grip as with other hot pads.Oddly, the magnet stopped working -- it just isn't magnetic anymore. We were "hanging" the potholder on the refrigerator, but the magnet just stopped being magnetic. The other refrigerator magnets on the refrigerator are still magnetic, but this one won't stick to anything. So now we throw this hot pad on top of the refrigerator, which is, of course, less convenient.

I prefer the Caphalon pot holders
I ordered both this oxo and the caphalon twill pot holder that is rated highly at amazon, so I could decide which one to keep. After a couple of uses, it's clear that the Caphalon is the keeper, and I'm sending this OXO back to amazon. The OXO seems to be trying too hard to be all things to everyone and just comes off confused. It has the super-cleanable plastic surface, but on the other side it has a very fuzzy dirt-attracting hard-to-clean pocket. It's not sure whether to say "stains are no problem for me", or "I'm afraid, very afraid, of stains".The seams and weird folding pattern of the OXO mean that it simply isn't comfortable to do what one expects to do with it: stick your hand in the pocket and grab something hot with it. It's not hard or uncomfortable, but it just feels like you're jamming a square peg in a round hole. The overall quality of the OXO was on the cheap end; places that could have received double stitching were only single stitched and it felt like it wouldn't last as long as the caphalon. Perhaps most damningly I was afraid to throw it in the clothes washer due to the poor stitching on the plastic parts. And the visual look was just weird, catching your eye with the high contrast ribs but for no good reason. The Caphalon feels effortless to use, looks elegant, and feels like it'll be easy to care for by throwing the whole thing in the washer. There's nothing wrong with the OXO but it just doesn't feel as good as the Caphalon.

Very Nice
I bought a lodge cast iron 12in Skillet and have been using it with great success to cook meats and such. I love searing steaks in it and then oven baking the steak at 500°F degrees. However, the skillet is incredibly hot and has even mildly burned my hand through multiple pot holders with wet dish cloths between the cast iron and the pot holders. I finally decided enough was enough and decided to get the right tool for the job.I noticed these on amazon and decided to take the plunge since I noticed these are heat safe up to 600°F which I figured would be enough for my needs.I'm pleasantly pleased. The biggest pro is that I don't even feel the heat through the pot holder when handling the skillet. The magnet is surprisingly handy and keeps the pot holder on the fridge and within reach in my kitchen so I can grab anytime I'm working on the oven/stove. There is a slot in the back where you can slide your hand secure your hot items that way. It is a little small though I do have big hands and can put my hand in the slot. I don't think I'd be able to use them very effectively though. The holders bend and can be wrapped around whatever you're trying to grip (to some success)My only real complaint is that the silicone is pretty stiff. It bends in very specific areas which makes it difficult to get a solid grip on something somewhat slim (say the skillet handle). It's odd to explain but if you look at the zoomed-in image on amazon, you can see which parts of the silicone are "solid" and where it bends (the perforation-looking sections). It still has some give and will bend, especially at the perforations) but if it's not easily wrapped in these sections the grip leaves something to be desired.Personally I loved these enough to order another set and just two hand my cookware for better grip, stability, and reduced fatigue. I would recommend these to anyone handling really hot cookware like cast iron.

Hidden magnet nice touch
Nice addition that pot holder has a magnet inside so it will hang securely on refrig or other metal surface. Good design & handles well.
