No it is not. There are two versions. One is made in China, and one is made in Japan. The Japanese version is identical to the Chinese, however I own both and I can tell you that the one made in Japan is a higher quality tool (which is why it generally garners a higher price) but they are both quality tools. It is the best and most versatile multi-tool I have ever owned. Having used it for years in construction, the oilfield, and as a challenge course & rock climbing facilitator, I can tell you that I use it at least once a day if not several times per day and it has become an invaluable tool that I carry with me at all times.

Does this knife have a shackle key?

This is a great tool. Good stainless steel. Marling Spike and knife lock securely. I don't know what shackle key means. It has a nice carry case.

So the bail that you would put a lanyard on is also the 'lock' to keep the marlinspike/pliers closed? Would a lanyard keep pulling it open?

No the lanyard loop on the Myerchin is just a lanyard loop. The locking mechanism for knife and marlinspike is a standard pocket knife mechanism that you press with your thumb to the side.
