Walker Products215-2030 Fuel Injection Idle Air Control Valve

The real issue was a recessed exhaust valve that was causing the truck to stall when coming to a stop or after revving the engine. This was a 2001 Ranger with a 2.5L. My stepson ran the truck way too lean due to a large vacuum leak and ignored the check engine light for almost a year. The engine running very lean for that long damaged two of the exhaust valves and caused them to become recessed in the seat. When an engine runs too lean the exhaust temps go up a lot and the extra heat tends to damage the valves and seats. This then causes the stem height to be too tall and the compressed spring height to be to much reducing the closed spring pressure. All of this causes the valve to hang open when coming down to idle from a higher RPM as the hydraulic buckets (lifters) are still pumped up. It presents like an engine control issue which caused me to replace all kinds of components for no reason. This is a common problem for these engines and most people never figure it out. You need to take the head off and bring it to a machine shop for new exhaust valves, new exhaust seats and new head bolts at a minimum. You might as well throw in new intake valves and springs also. The springs can be hard to find. Some times Rockauto has them in stock. The bottom end of these engines are pretty tough and will usually go to 300k miles.

Easy to instal on my 1996 explorer. Made my idle nice and smooth and starts up a lot easier.

Correct part but I purchased a gasket separate because the listing didn’t show or say gasket was included. The gasket was included.

well for starters, the package got here. the amazon box looked good, but the package inside the box, looked like it had been opened and returned! was missing a gasket, so I just reused the stock it was still good. anyway, i unhooked the battery and installed the new IAC. reconnected everything and made sure i didn't forget anything. i started the truck up. let it idle and give the computer time to relearn the idle. the idle was still very high 1025rpms 2000 ford ranger with 2.5 everything stock, so i took it for a drive. the idle got more intense check engine came on. i had to pull into a store parking lot to. reinstall the stock IAC everything went back to normal.

I do not like this product because there is a round piece that easily comes off. That piece is not suppose to come off. Because of this I failed emission inspection. I'm going to return this product; very disappointing.
