Praying the Lord's Prayer

This is the best book on prayer that I have read. It simple but profound and the chapters are very short so it is easy to take in the major points and contemplate each section. An excellent book for everyone who wishes a deeper understanding of the Lord's prayer.

This is yet another great work of I J Packer. You can come back to read it again and again. It is for thoughtful meditation rather than an academic read. Distills the true meaning of every clause of the Lord's prayer in a concise manner. For a more comprehensive exposition I would recommend Thomas Watson's work, which is the Gold Standard on this subject. Also, it is cheaper to buy the Growing in Christ title, which is a collection of three titles, The creed, The Lord's Prayer, and Ten commandments.

The book does a fantastic job breaking down the Lord’s Prayer , verse by verse . The commentary is very insight and easy for new Christian’s to understand. If you are having a problem with prayer I highly recommend this book .

Packer Highlights the need for carefully considering the truth of each phrase of the prayer, and inculcating those truths into one's own words in prayer. The Prayer is a guide to formulate our praying rather than a Prayer to be repeated in rote fashion.

Praying the Lord's Prayer I found this little book to be a wonderful resource on understanding the many facets of the Lord's Prayer. The depth and knowledge of a man committed to studying God through scriptures is evident in each chapter. The book can be easily read for information in one sitting. I would not recommend that. I found the book to be most helpful reading it several times more slowly. Using the book as a means to examine God's purposes through daily prayer was best accomplished by taking each chapter as a daily devotional. This book and the author helped me to understand what a gift Jesus gave us when he said to his disciples then and now, pray in this way.....

Very solid teaching. Small book, but very thought provoking. So glad I am reading this book. Update: after attending a Bible study on this book and reading this book three times, my life has changed in so many wonderful ways. Everyone needs to read this book. The spiritual depth is astounding to me. I am reading it again and realizing even more truths.

I am 59 and I am a cradle catholic; this is the best introduction to the Lord's Prayer that I ever read. Not one priest has ever taken the time to teach the lord's prayer like this book. I only wish the author included a bibliography or book suggestions to read at the end of each chapter. Other wise, I could use this book as both instruction and meditation.
