A tale of growing up and what it means to know oneself intimately
Katherine and Michael, two teenage souls who fall in love, only to discover that most of the times, love is clumsy and awkward. They share a wonderful chemistry, and I would totally vouch for them. But then life happens and so does growing up. Katherine in insecure and she keeps having seconds thoughts about building a physical relationship with Michael. Michael, on the other hand, is trying really hard to win her trust. And thus begins an intense, exploratory relationship that is also about discovering one’s sexual side. “Do you think you can wait – because I don’t want you to stop loving me. I keep remembering us and how it was. I don’t want to hurt you…not ever…” Forever was banned because it talks about sex just the way it should be talked about, not sugarcoated and full of metaphors. It is most certainly explicit, but maybe the society does need to be straightforward about certain things, rather than overrating stuff. The story is quite simple and predictable, with an emphasis on friendship and relationship. I wasn’t particularly fond of the writing style, It felt weak and shallow. The characters were pretty tolerable, given the circumstances. Forever should be read because it tells us the perils of a teenage relationship and that even if you had to minus the other problems, facing one’s own sexual side can be quite a challenge.

Worst ending!!!!
The ending is worst!!!! No girl in love would ever want to cheat his guy at any circumstances! You can never think about any guy doesn't matter if your love is with you or living far away! The ending should not have been like this..If you are showing a girl in love with any guy I don't think its a justice that you keep the ending this negative!

Excellent read. Judy Blume skillfully and honestly portrays the challenges, experienced by all teens and young adults, of transitioning from holding hands to a relationship with both emotional and sexual responsibility. She informs her readers that a relationship can have real consequences without being condescending towards them. Even at the age of 28, I was able to relate to this book as I also experienced my first love at 17 going on 18 and am lucky enough to still be with him today. I think the message of this book is that it's perfectly normal to get swept up in the excitement of your first love and your first time, but be sensible and keep yourself safe. Be responsible. I will definitely be giving this book to my younger sister, who is 15 years old. To any parents who are unsure about the appropriateness of this book, my advice would be to read it first yourselves then decide. This book is intelligent, informative and relatable.

I really enjoyed this book. Blume covers teenage love from a mature angle, and gives Katherine admirable strength and sense.

I wish I had read this book when I was a teenager. It wouldn't given me perspective on how young 18 really is and that a relationship at that age isn't always forever! I was 19 years old when I got married to my high school sweetheart! Too young, it didn't last very long about 3 years and I had a child at age 22. He and I got divorced. He was too immature for the responsibility of a child especially one with a serious heart condition! The responsibility fell on my shoulders and lucky I had a good job. I was a licenced LPN. It's not quite an Registered nurse but, my salary helped me support my son and get him medical care. His dad never gave us child support, even though he was required to do so. This book is written well and may help a teen realize go get a university degree and then make more responsible choices in your future!

Have always loved this author from childhood my first book I recall reading was "Otherwise Known As Sheila The Great" ! It just kept going on from there. I use to save my $ & purchased many of her preteen books such as "Are You There God, It's Me Margaret", "Then Again Maybe I Won't" & I continued. I always asked for these books which I did not have for gifts for birthdays & Hanukkah ! But many don't know Judy Blume wrote many books that are all not considered preteen ! Like this book "FOREVER" I purchased this when I was probably 17 or 18 it is not meant in my opinion for an under 16 audience ! Well without parental discretion ! I am far older now, I of all Judy Blume novels I loved this book so much that I had to get another copy of it. I'd had it on my Amazon wishlist for quite while now ! So I received $50.00 for a birthday gift recently to use for a "whatever I wanted" gift ! Here it is 40+ years later & I now re-own a copy of this fantastic book !

I'm not really a big reader but I have wanted to buy a book for a while now and I have never known what to buy as I said i'm not really a big reader. I came across this book while searching on amazon and the cover drawn me in so I read the description and it seemed like a nice book, I have only had it for one night and I have read 70 pages, I love it!! I am 19 and I think it is so true the way it explains the first time and how the relationship goes, I can relate to this book a lot!! I would recommend this book to anyone any teenager who is worrying about relationships or the first time, or any adult who remembers what it was like to be in that position! The book isn't extremely long so I will be sad when I finish it, I guess I will just have to purchase another Judy Blume book!
