Introduction to Public Key Infrastructures

This book is a decent introduction to public key infrastructure. Much of the book is unfortunately just regurgitating the standards, though. The book could use a lot more exposition and commentary. However, if you want a book on public key infrastructure, there are not many choices and this one is as good as any other.

As a collage professor, I had to obtain a certification in all the subjects I taught, plus a master's degree. PKI was a major arear in the Security+ exam and 70-80% of my computer forensics degree involved PKI. Once learned, network security becomes the mainstay of any network security manager. Unfortunately, most run of the mill network administrators have no clue as to what this subject covers.

it's perfect as an introduction

I felt that although the book is well written, there are times when it glosses over important areas and others when it goes into too much detail. I did feel that more time could have been spent on real world implementations and applications of a PKI. If you are looking for something that will delve into the detail of certificates and related protocols then this is the book for you. If you are looking for a broader more practical view of PKIs then you may get a little frustrated with some of the more detailed chapters.

Das geht gar nicht.

Das Buch beschreibt die Grundlage der PKI und die eingesetzten Verschlüsselungstechnologien passend. Dieses Buch sollte noch in deutscher Sprache erscheinen.
