Uart Sanded Pastel Art Paper, Off-White, Mulitple Sizes and Grits, 10 Sheet Packs (Grade 400, 9" x 12")

This is the best surface I have found for pastel. I was reluctant to use sanded paper; I was using Canson for my pastels but the consistent and elegant surface of this sanded paper has changed my mind. Yes, it's a little pricey but worth every penny

Years ago, when I took art lessons, they did not have this special paper. I have been amazed at how well it works.

As a pastelist with less than one year of experience, I can say with no reservations whatsoever that Uart is one of the best pastel papers for beginners. Period. At the beginning of my painting journey, I started out using unsanded papers. Instead of layering color in complex or beautiful ways, I "made mud" on those unsanded papers.Uart has a sanded surface similar to sandpaper. It holds many layers of color, even more than you could hope for if you use a spray fixative on the first few layers. I am a very heavy-handed painter, something I'm trying to correct, but even I can get 8 or 9 layers of color on Uart. In my book, that's a wonderful pastel support!Uart can handle any kind of underpainting you wish to use. Watercolor, oil stains, alcohol washes etc. can all be used on it without harming the paper. The biggest downside to using Uart is that it does indeed curl. I frame most of my work so it isn't a big deal to me. Some people think the surface is hard on the fingertips while painting on it. I'd be wary of aggressive finger blending on it, but I've had no trouble otherwise.Uart comes in several different grits. I really enjoy 400 which is mid-range. It is a pleasure to work on, and the nice results mean I want to paint more often. Highly recommended!

My favorite paper for pastels. It’s sturdy, holds the chalk really well, and come in a great size for landscapes. Love it.

Well protected mostly in a fairly hardish heavyweight cardboard container- so somewhat protected- arrive in great condition. The paper itself is nice, though I wish i had gotten a darker shade of tan- The tooth is fine and you can build several layers on it easily- just remember a light touch goes a long way with pastels- so lay down soft pastel lightly on the top of underpinning, and the top layer paint crystals will catch the light nicely- this paper allows a soft touch compared to unsanded paper

Paper is exactly what I expected. I used it for drawing and shading with soft pastel sticks.

Good to cut into smaller sections. I love sanded paper for soft pastels, as many do.

Love Uart paper and 500 grit is perfect. Just enough grit to hold the pastel.
