Book Thief, The (10th AE) : Penguin, Penguin, Penguin, Zusak Markus': desertcart.in: Books Review: A book which is confusing but interesting. - A nine year old girl,Liesel Meminger, was being brought to Himmel Street in Molchang town along with her younger brother by her mother to be handed over to foster parents at Himmel Street in Molching town. Unfortunately, her six year old younger brother dies during travel, forcing them to cremate the body with the help of railway guards and some graveyard diggers at a cemetery. Here the young Leslie finds a "The Gravedigger's Handbook" which she picksup and keeps with her without any one noticing. On an occasion her intrest in reading books is noticed by her foster father Hans Hubermann and later on a different occasion by one Ilsa Hermann (The Mayor's wife) while stealing a book during an anti-semitic mass book burning by Germans.Later whem Leslie visits Ilsa Hermann to collect laundry on behalf of her mother, she lets Liesel in to her house & shows her huge book shelfs, with a permission to read them and also going soft on Liesel's stealing books from her house at certain times. She is also encouraged by Max Vandenburg(The Jew,who is in to hiding in Huberman's place under their careful protection) in both reading and writing. On the whole " The Book Thief " by Markus Zusak is an outstanding book. It's different in many ways.On one side,if it's the narration that grips reader, then on the other side, it's about the storytelling, which is both confusing and interesting.Strangely, the story is narrated by death in all fairness and in a human way. Here, the reader is foretold about the unfolding of characters in advance.Whether it's the death of the Pilot,Rudy Steiner, or that of Hans & Rosa Huberman etc the writer tells you in advance while simultaneously bringing there presence in the story which definitely is a page turner not only towards forward pages but also towards backward pages, just to fall in track with the storyline or to clear the confusion that had arisen. The Nazis domination in Germany during WWII ,their tyranny on Jews and their suffering etc are very vividly brought out.The mention of athletic king "Jesse Owens", the long awaited innocent request kiss of Rudy Steiner with Lesilie that never comes up when he was alive,The Love between Leslie and her foster father(Hans Hubermann) Leslie and Max Vandenburg,The hardships and the integrity with which the Huberman's family protects Max Vandenburg etc all makes a wonderful reading. Review: Wow - Great read, thats all I can say. You may read a book review to get more insight on this. Its such a creative way of writing, I was so impressed with this.

Most beautiful and soul-touching books
The Book Thief is one of the most beautiful and soul-touching books I’ve ever read. Markus Zusak takes an incredibly hard and painful subject and tells it with such tenderness, depth, and sensitivity that it stays with you long after you’ve finished. Every character feels alive, every moment is written with emotion, and the storytelling is simply breathtaking. I loved everything about this book, it’s a rare gem that moves you, changes you, and stays in your heart forever.

Extraordinary, fantastic, Intriguing story of the book thief from death!
A strange, intriguing, extremely unique tale about a small girl and her thieveries. OR A story narrated by death itself about some people who fools it more than once. OR A story revealing the power of books and words than the bullets and bombs! Define however you want, this story has everything you need to know in your life time. The story has irony, misery, the cruality of fate, sorrows, tears, love and moreover the ray of hope which spread the droplets of courage to move on in every gloomy times in our life. Leisel, the one whom death referred as the Book thief, lived in a difficult era of time, in Germany where Hitler ruled and ruined and destructed people as well as peace. He burned books and she stole, read and hugged them. What's making the tale unique is the narration from death itself. When death describes something, you have to listen. Markus Zusak really nailed it beautifully. The book caught my interest from the first page. 𝙷𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚒𝚜 𝚊 𝚜𝚖𝚊𝚕𝚕 𝚏𝚊𝚌𝚝 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒈𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒊𝒆. Yes! We all are. And do we really think everyday about this fact or before doing anything in our life? Yes or no, guys, we have to remember those words and it will constantly remember us to do the right things or atleast the accurate ones in this small lifespan than creating another hell in the earth, like Hitler. There were a lot of thieveries, books and apples and all! Nothing is bad at all when the situation required it. There were wanting for something to survive starvation and the things they needed were food and books. ( every starvation can't be survived with eating bread alone) I suggest the books to everyone for many reasons. 🌀The book shows the survival of the bookthief in the most difficult time on her life. Whatever happened, and whoever we lost, we have to move on like nothing happened. 🌀Death comes in our most happiest or saddest moments, and we got no choice than accept the fact. 🌀Life is short, very short and it will end before we know it. So, enjoy every moment in it. 🌀Read! Books got unique power than any weapons in the world.

It’s a dark story yet beautiful. The only complaint I have, is that death(the narrator) could’ve been more elegant in its descriptions. I would say that the book is close to a masterpiece 😁
