MG06X 6-Input Compact Stereo Mixer with Effects

While my initial experience began with a slight hitch – receiving an open-box unit when I'd specifically ordered new – the sheer quality and surprising capabilities of the MG06X quickly rendered that a minor footnote. My enthusiasm for this mixer remains undiminished, a testament to its exceptional design and functionality. This compact and streamlined mixer truly stands out as an exceptional choice for anyone looking to elevate their home audio experience without unnecessary complexity. Its minimalist design means fewer knobs and sliders, which I've found to be a significant advantage for beginners. Unlike more elaborate setups, the MG06X offers immediate, tangible feedback on any adjustments, making it incredibly intuitive to use and quickly master. You'll instantly perceive the impact of your settings, which greatly simplifies the learning curve. Despite its accessible interface and unassuming footprint, the audio quality delivered by the MG06X is remarkably professional-grade. From my personal experience with various mixers over time – though I wouldn't call myself a professional – this unit performs with the clarity and robustness typically associated with much higher-end equipment. For a solo acoustic player, this is a great mini mixer. I've started doing acoustic open mics online by Zoom, and I needed a small 2 channel mixer with reverb so as I could better control of my sound. Zoom is designed for voice (people talking in meetings), so it automatically and aggressively filters out music (it thinks it unwanted background noise). This means you have to master Zoom's "Original Sound" feature and know how to disable it's filters just so people can hear you clearly. After that, everything else is up to you (your levels, your mix, effects, etc.). In times like these, I routinely turn to Yamaha for great quality equipment. This mini mixer has plenty of channels, great reverb on channels 1 and 2, and gives me the control I want. For inputs I have my vocals on channel 1 (with reverb) and my guitar on channel 2 (with reverb). For outputs, I'm running the Left side to my computer for Zoom Audio, and I'm running the Right side to my Tascam DR-05 digital recorder (to save my performances), and I have my headphones on the "phone" output. I'm going to experiment with running the computer speaker line back into channel 3 so as I can hear through my headphones both what I'm playing and what other people on Zoom are saying (and to get their applause on the recordings). For any other solo performers entering the brave new world of online open mics, I highly recommend this mini-mixer.

For acoustic duos, or someone who only needs 2 mic pre's, this unit delivers the same quality as the bigger Yamaha mixers. We use it for 2 vocals and backing tracks and it works great. There is not a bluetooth option to the mixer, so I only gave it 4 stars. Other than that, the EFX sound fine. Would be nice to have a little control on each channel for efx amount per channel, but really for the price, it works great, is tiny and reduces the size of your over stage real estate.

Great mixer!!! SOUND GREAT BUT TOO MUCH ADDITIONS NEED FOR WHAT I NEED IT FOR. I JUST REALLY NEED A NICE INTERFACE.

This works well in my small studio. I use the XLR for microphones and the single ended for my keyboards. The first two channels have the effects, the rest are dry. That works for me because the keyboard has its own effects. I add reverb to my XLR vocal mic and to the single ended Harmonica mic for channel 2. There is a slight hiss but only when you are right up to the monitors at high volume. Otherwise it is quiet. I like that it has multiple outputs. The XLRs go to my studio monitors and the headphone output is independently controlled. I have even put the output from my band recordings into channels 5 and 6 so I can play along with the band's set and work on my playing. Hard to beat for the money. I tis small enough to sit on my keyboard out of the way. I haven't taken it on gigs because the band's PA and house PA have the effects I need. Also, plan on having AC power so you may need an extension cord. Highly recommended.
