Solid Choice
I purchased my last pair of boots in 1999. It was a pair of solomons. I loved those boots. They kept my feet dry, they were comfortable, and they had longevity... until the soul fell off of them last summer. I had been looking for new boots for a while. I ordered a pair of the solomon gtx 4d. It had a ton of reviews online. When I got it, I didn't like the fit and there was some funky styling going on with the sole. I had read some reviews about the AKU Alterra boots on the REI site and around the web. I looked at the AKU site and decided to buy off amazon.These boots felt great out of the box. I walked around in them at work the next day and I didn't have any issues with rubbing. The following weekend i took them out the desert on a trip. I wore them all weekend and my feet felt great.The boots are very well constructed and they are designed to have their sole replaced. I intend to keep these boot for a long, long time.

Great boots! However toe box slightly too narrow.
The quality and design with respect to the shoe string rolling barbarians and a stylish comfortable fit these boots are top notch. However if this boots had a little more accommodation in toe box they would be the best hiking boots on the market hands down. AKU needs a wide version of these boots
