Marley: A Dog Like No Other

I received this product in a timely manner, and it played without any trouble. The story is fantastic and read well on the audio CD. My family very much enjoyed listening to "Marley: A Dog Like No Other" during a car trip and the kids (boys, ages 4 and 8) didn't want us to turn it off! The story has been adapted to a more family-friendly version in this audio CD for children, and having read the book previously myself, I was glad that certain parts of the story were not told in this particular edition. (That being said, my husband and I LOVED the original book, as well, but some topics would not have been appropriate for young listeners.)The story of a rambunctious, but loving dog named Marley, and his many antics made us laugh out loud. Being dog lovers and owners ourselves, even our boys would make comparisons between things that Marley did and things our own dogs like to do. The car trip went MUCH faster as we listened to this audio version and we all enjoyed the wit, humor and love with which the story was both written and read. I highly recommend this product!

Most of this book had me laughing out loud! However, the sad parts (which had me in tears) seemed to be too long. I respect that the author did what he and his wife felt was right in regards to timing. I'm not sure that I could have watched my dog go through all of that. Maybe the time was distorted because I was reading the story and not the one living it. I know there were months and years stated in the book, but it seemed to go on for quite a while from my perspective as a reader. Anyway, I'm just thinking of how I felt about it as an adult, and how my son will feel about it as he reads this book. It will definitely bring up some good discussion.

This is a real must for dog lovers! This is the first book I ever read that I sobbed at the end! It was so hard to watch Marley grow older & finally pass. I absolutely loved it.

This was a book where you sit back at think "wow, isn't it amazing how one person, one pet, one thing can change your thinking on life or how you look at it?" I couldn't believe how heart-warming this book was. I would recommend his book to anyone who enjoys pets, emotional stories, dog lovers, book lovers, and basically everyone! Marley and Me was the best book I have ever read and will read this over and over again. He truly is a wonderful dog.

We love this book! I read a chapter or two every night with my 6 year old daughter. We've found many similarities between Marley and our dog and she said she can imagine our dog doing everything in the book as I read. You'll fall in love with this big galoof of a dog through the sweet, funny, and sometimes heartbreaking stories as told by his master, John Grogan.

I teach an adult literacy class. The students appreciate reading "real" books that we read together one chapter at a time. This fits my needs very well since the vocabulary level is challenging but not overwhelming. There are many chapters so a good cut off point for about 20 minutes at a time. There is humor to keep the interest level up. I have read Marley and Me and find the story just as interesting as it was in the adult-level version.

Brilliantly written! I could smell Marleys breath and fell his fur. Smile at his joy and feel the fear of his anxiety. You don't need to be a dog lover to enjoy this read but, you just may become one. 😊

'Marley' is a wonderfully told tale of the frustrations of parenting a lovable, but always-in-trouble pet. Grogan's writing style keeps you intimately involved with all of his and Marley's growing pains. From puppyhood to seniorhood, Marley's is a life worth sharing. And right down to its sad and prolonged end, Grogan keeps a tight leash on the reader's emotions.

I laughed out loud while reading this book. I made me think back to the three dogs in my life each with their own foibles. I loved them all.
