My son has been pulling his hair out since he was six (he's almost 11) and I tried all kinds of techniques and tricks to get him to stop. Parents who are dealing with this should know, shaming and berating make no difference. My son was already ashamed and felt so defeated by his trich that I knew his lack of control wasn't by choice. He often pulled without realizing it, like when your eating popcorn while watching a movie and before you know it, all the popcorn is gone. He also used it to soothe, like some people do with food or alcohol. Then one day I read about some studies using this supplement to help trich sufferers. I read the reviews and saw it did help some people (although not all). I didn't have high hopes, but I figured why not? It's been about three months (1 capsule a day seems to be enough for his 65 pounds) and my son now has a super thick head full of hair and I no longer see tufts of hair all around his bed. He had one little episode of pulling in the front, but once he became aware of it he was able to stop. This is the first time in 6 years that he hasn't begged me to wear a cap or try to fill in his bald spots with a sharpie marker. Even his doctor was surprised by the results. Thank goodness for the other reviewers who convinced me to give it a try.Update: it's been a year. My son no longer pulls and he is off the supplement! I was so worried this was going to last the rest of his life. He still has a strange sensory need to "pet" his hair, but he does not pull. Yay!Update #2: 2 years, he still pets some, but not like before where it was constant. That is also diminishing. I have found the occasional small knot of hair on the floor (like one every 3 months), where I think he was super stressed and rubbed his hair between two fingers until it knotted and fell out, but it doesn't happen enough to be a concern. He loses more hair when he uses his brush.Update #3: 4 years and he no longer pets his hair. I haven't seen knotted bits or anything. Now he's a vain peacock when it comes to his hair, primping in front of the mirror and combing it just right.

I have read numerous medical articles which highly suggested consuming this powerful Anti-Oxidant. The product has a long list of followers, most of which are not U.S. based.Okay, the product is a powerful anti-oxidant and a mucolytic (Mucus) thinning agent while some physicians are administering this to HIV or Pulmonary patients for treatment (undocumented). Of course, the list of remedies provided by this drug is quite long and not necessarily documented.I have used NAC several years without any noticeable side effects,Anti-Oxidants in general, protect the body from scavengers or Free Radicals which may be in the human system. As compared to other Anti-Oxidants this product is quite unique. The drug, according to some reports is also used to protect the human liver from results of over doses of ibuprofen.Let me state, I am NOT a physician and because I do not have any problems using this dietary supplement is no guarantee my expereince is applicable to all who my use this product.

NAC is used in Emergency Rooms across the world to reduce damage to the liver from Tylenol/acetaminophen damage (Overdose). Because I am on high levels of Tylenol/acetaminophen for medical reasons and my liver enzymes were extremely high, I began taking this to protect my liver.I cannot say that this supplement works for anything else, but, if you are someone who is prescribed or takes a lot of acetaminophen (whether Tylenol, or acetaminophen in the form of say, Vicodin, Oxycontin with acetaminophen, Fioricet, etc) than this can work to protect your liver. I use N-A-C in conjunction with a silymarin supplement to further help and regenerate the liver. Remember it is a medical fact that 4000 grams of acetaminophen (or 8 Extra strength Tylenol) a day can cause permanent liver damage, and many medicines contain acetaminophen built in (like Nyquil, etc) not to mention the aforementioned Vicodin/Norco/Roxicet or even Fioricet. So if you are someone who is disabled or a chronic user of products containing acetaminophen you can begin to do permanent damage to your liver even taking a total of just 2500-3000g of acetaminophen daily.Again, it is not a "Cure" for liver damage but can act as a protectant against high levels of acetaminophen. That being said, I have been more than happy with this product! Both my General Practitioner and even my liver specialist were very concerned about my high AST/ALT and other liver enzymes. After many CT's, MRI's and a liver biopsy they found no damage to the liver itself other than the high enzymes.I am in no way a doctor or medical specialist, nor am I giving any medical advice. But one can Google acetaminophen overdose and usage and see that N-A-C is used everyday for acute and chronic liver poisoning from "Tylenol". If you like me, cannot take NSAIDS and must take "high" levels of acetaminophen/Tylenol I would HIGHLY recommend this as something to help protect your liver. Of course discuss all of this with your physician!For me, it has been a true "miracle" of protecting my liver, and I am very satisfied with NAC's benefits. Even if you do NOT take chronic high acetaminophen/Tylenol use, this can probably be added to your health regime for Liver health on occasion. (IE: After a heavy night of drinking, or if you are a hepatitis sufferer, etc.) Again, as always, discuss NAC use with your Physician(s). I take 1 capsule 3-4 times a day (a bit more than the bottle recommends) but so far it has been helping me.

I’ve been taking Swanson N-AC daily for about 6 years now. I always recommend it to all family and friends! I swear it helps my immune system greatly!
