High quality but stiff leather.
I love the style and they are very well-made shoes. My only problem is that the leather is too stiff for my feet and I have a corn in one big toe which I'm afraid won't be able to feel good through the breaking-in period. I love Keen shoes and wish they worked for me!!

I love these shoes!
I LOVE these shoes! I have some keen shoes that are 15 years old and I still use them in the yard. Well warn but they probably have another 5 years of life in them. So well made. These are stylish and comfortable. The leather is perfect for shoes. Little scuffs blend right in. I love the toe box. One of my favs is how the rubber sole wraps up and protects the upper toe from scratches. Super sturdy shoes that last forever, even in the hardest conditions.

Shoes that last. Feel great.
This is a 10 year shoe. At least I am upgrading my shoes that I bought 10 years ago.... The 10 years old shoes are still great. I wear them around the house. The new ones go to work.

The Good, Bad and Ugly
The Good: These shoes seem well constructed with quality leather and I like how they look. Wide toe box as expected. The Bad: I put them on and felt like I was wearing a medieval torture device. Seriously, these are the most uncomfortable shoes out of box I have ever purchased. The tongue of the shoe is so rigid and stiff it drives into tibialis tendon on the front of your foot and actually makes your feet start to fall asleep from lack of circulation. Leaves a large red welt on the front of both feet after a few minutes just wearing around the house. I took off the shoe and tried breaking in the tongue of the shoe by hand. Serious, at this point wooden clogs would be more comfortable. The Ugly: I must be a glutton for punishment because I have hopes that I can break the shoe in and it will be comfortable enough after that. I’m going to keep it and continue to try to break it in because I do like how it looks and the shoe is wide - doesn’t cramp feet.. If all the edges and tongue soften up and the shoe breaks in a little bit, it seems like it could be a comfortable shoe.I am giving it the benefit of the doubt by offering three stars.

Super comfortable once broken in. Excellent workmanship.
At first, I was worried that I'd have to return for a larger size. I'm size 12 almost 100% of the time. These shoes were so hard to get in to, I put them on indoors without socks. I walked around for about 10 minutes. I went outside to take the dogs for a walk (more on them later...they factor into this review) and I put on ultra-thin socks at that time. After about 15 minutes they loosened up a bit. I felt like I'd made the right choice. Now I can wear regular socks with them. What this tells me, despite my hope that I'd purchased shoes that fit perfectly right out of the box, is that these are made of very durable leather. I've worn them for almost a month, about 9 or 10 times, I guess. They get more comfortable by the day. My one concern was the collar, which seemed quite stiff at first, but which seems to be fitting much better with each wearing, and I suspect they will fit like a glove once the leather has been broken in even more.Speaking of being broken into, one of my mutts (or both) tried to dog-handle them. I thought they were out of reach, but apparent'y not, and the dogs were keen (sorrrrrrry) to sink their teeth and claws into them. They ripped a very small area on the right shoe where the collar meets the tongue, just by the first eyelet (far right pic). The stitching (maybe about 3 or 4 stitches) is worn, and a tiny section of the leather has been compromised. They ripped off the logo swatch on the other shoe (far left pic, shoe on left). They scratched the toe area (middle pic). I'd say, given their obvious fervour and delight, that the shoes withstood the onslaught well. The way my wife described the carnage to me over the phone, I thought I'd have to toss them out. Luckily, no.I suspect they will endure for quite some time. For these reasons, I have to award them 5 stars. My first Keens, but definitely not my last. Also, the colour matched my expectations (I'd seen so many pics online, with such a variation in colour). If I had to find one gripe, it would be minor: the laces seem to be a tad short. That's all. To sum up: the Sherman tank of shoes in terms of build quality and toughness, yet extremely comfortable to boot (sorrrrry, part 2).
