SimplicityCreative Patterns New Look 6232 Misses' and Men's Button Down Shirt, A (8-18/X-Small-X-Large)

Have been looking for a pattern for a flannel and this one is just what I wanted. The pattern was easy enough to follow.

Not too bad for a relative newbie. I have made 4 shirts and have yet to make one where something didn't go as planned. Seam allowance accuracy is key as is cutting fabric and interfacing to ensure everything lines up and is where it is supposed to be. I will try one shirt! Definitely got my monies worth with the pattern though.

The pattern has too many pieces with poor printing. You have to guess what the piece is supposed to be and how to construct it.

Bought it for a sewing class and I enjoyed making them

This is a wonderful pattern if you want a tailored looking shirt - for male or female. It has a few tricky processes so I wouldn't recommend for a beginner. I have plenty of sewing experience and found the placket in the sleeve a bit challenging but the end result is great. I plan to make it in other fabrics and create a longer version as well

If you are a total beginner I think this might be quite tricky in places. Pick your fabric wisely and take your time. It came out amazing. I’m super pleased with the end result ( fairly experienced). Sizing is maybe slightly small but not massively. Just measure the pattern flat and check which size you need. I went up 1 size to account for shrinkage, it worked out about right but the fabric I used did not shrink quite as much as I expected ( you should pre wash anyway).

Simplicity is the best pattern makers around. Easy to understand and always fits well. Instructions are very clear and easy to follow.
