Disagree with the negative reviews re: not for experienced bakers
I just have to disagree with the negative reviews saying this book doesn't have any new or interesting ideas for experienced bakers. This is a fabulous cookie book with some outstanding recipes and a great jumping off point for bakers who like to riff on recipes. I've been baking for nearly 40 years and own my share of baking books, especially cookies. For the last 10 years, I have been part of a baking club and we do our own holiday cookie exchange each December. For the last 2 years I have made at least 3 different recipes (or put my own spin on them) from this book and the results were some of the best cookies I've ever made. Were they all amazing? No, there were a couple that were just good, but not spectacular enough to make it into regular rotation. But.... the outstanding cookies were simply amazing! I whole heartedly recommend the creme fraiche cranberry pecan pie bites (aka tassies), the cherry streusel jam bars with pink peppercorn cookie base, the peppermint bark shortbread bites, the spiced brown butter Muscovado sugar cookies, and the five spice cranberry mooncake cookies. Those recipes alone were worth the price of the book. Not only that, the author has me thinking differently about flavor combinations. If you're an experienced baker, try some of the "jazz hands" "holiday cookie exchange" "get stuffed" or "bar cookie" chapters.

So many unique cookies
This is a very nice cookbook with detailed instructions and beautiful pictures. The Madeleine cookies made me immediately purchase a pan just to try them!

Good book, not for kids learning to bake
I bought this book for my daughter for Christmas. I thought it would be more of a simple cookie book. It is not. However, it does challenge my daughter to cook outside of the box. With many different types of cookies and bars, she can make anything. The instructions are clear, and easy to follow. On the other hand, the cookies and bars are made out of items I don’t normally have on hand and have to go to Micheal’s to get or order online.

One of a Kind Recipes
This is a beautiful cookbook for those of you who just love cookbooks as I do. Cookies are my favorite treats ad gifts to make and these recipes are unique and outstanding. I finally found a place to purchase Muscovado sugar and can't wait to delve into the Chai Snickerdoodle recipe. Buy it, you will love it too!

Fun cookie book
I read the negative comments and it made me sad. Maybe I don’t have a refined pallet, but I’ve really enjoyed these cookies. I’ve also really enjoyed making them. I got the book during the pandemic and it jump started a new baking hobby. Yes I’ve had to order an ingredient on Amazon and I plan on getting a larger food processor, but these recipes are fun to attempt! Have I messed up and thrown a whole batch away? Yeah. But was it fun to create these? Heck yes! I am not a professional and I was not experienced when I started, but I’ve gotten a lot better and learned a lot from this book. I’m very much looking forward to the Cake Book. Purchased 9/2020

Some of my most impressive cookies come from this book!
I've been making cookies out of The Cookie Book ever since it was available. Been meaning to write a review a lot sooner but as I look today and see some negative reviews I absolutely have to stick up for this book! Those complaining about the use of bread flour in the cookies really don't know baking as they profess. The bread flour, used with APF gives the cookies a very nice chewy bite, and is done all the time in recipes. And saying this isn't for experienced bakers?! Why? Because Rebecca writes the instructions as if she's sitting at the kitchen counter, walking you through each step? I'm an experienced baker and loved everything about every recipe I made. And the reviewer who said the cookies were bland hasn't made the Cold Brew Cookies, or the best Oatmeal Cookies I've EVER tasted cookies, to name just two. And the price of the book is worth it just to be able to make the cookies mentioned!I cannot express enough how some of my best compliments from friends and family are given regarding the cookies in The Cookie Book! So, get or give this cookie cookbook with confidence.

You need this book!
This is SUCH a great book, a must-have in your cookbook library! First off, a whole chapter on chocolate chip cookies, are you kidding me!? I LOVE chocolate chip and how small changes can make a totally different cookie and Rebecca gives us a beautiful variety! Olive oil, brown butter, thin & crispy, bars...all chocolate chip, I love it! The book then goes on a voyage from there, getting into classics like snickerdoodles, drop cookies with a little something extra, sandwich cookies stuffed with ice cream or marshmallow, and even bar cookies - I’m looking forward to trying the Pumpkin Spice Bars with Toasted Meringue. There’s so much more, including a holiday chapter and cookies that really dazzle in the “Jazz hands” chapter. The descriptions before the recipes are so spot on - I could read through them and really get a sense of what the cookie would be like. I’m familiar with her recipes from her blog and have made a few of her cookies so I trust her recipes 100%. She gives lots of hints in the beginning of the book and along the way as well. This will me my go-to for a long time!

Favorite cookie book
Very good- extremely talented. After I found the taste/texture of the cookies, I've been able to play around and make some of my own variations that have always been a hit.Try the peanut butter cookies- and us the "burnt sugar"... seriously, people who said they don't like peanut butter loved them. Pumpkin cookies are also excellent- but an unexperienced baker might have trouble knowing when they are done. I also tend to mix the ingredients in a different order, based on the pastry school I learned from... it produces a texture and helps maintain the emulsion, so I haven't tried it the way she wrote it, but I'm sure its good!

Amazing!
I follow the author on Instagram and pre-ordered her cookie recipe book as soon as it was available. I'm slowly making my way through all the recipes (easy to follow, include metric measurements) but every single one I've tried so far has been a big hit. I wanted to make all the different chocolate chip cookies (there is a whole chapter just for them!) but I got stuck making the "Everything CCC" because friends and colleagues keep requesting them - best CCC I've ever made! The photography is gorgeous, the recipes super varied (not just cookies but brownies/blondies, bars and truffles too) with techniques that I haven't tried before. Love it!

le livre est magnifique, très bien illustré, et toutes les recettes semblent toutes plus délicieuses les unes que les autres. offert comme cadeau pour la noël, ce livre n'a pas manqué de réjouir celui qu'il l'a reçu. je recommande à 100%

Great cookie variety
Being somewhat newer to baking I bought this book to expand my cookie horizons and it's great. It's easy to follow and has a great variety. Since getting this book I've come to appreciate the difference bread flour makes in a cookie. So far I haven't tried any more of the extravagant cookies but out of the 5 or 6 I've made the over night banana bread cookies blew me away.
