Worked great.

Great little motors and very strong. A lot of buyers complaining about pulling power. You have to add 13 grams of weight. (flatten out fishing weights with double face tape) for them to show their true strength. The only difference from the 105,106,107 units are the style of trucks, all have same motor. F3,7,9 shells are easiest to adapt along with FB units. Just cut the back off, next to ladders with hobby saw, shorten front half and sand / fit carefully, pack with shims. Restores the crappy running or dead trolleys to nice runners. Still perfecting a way to add lights. With the price of locomotives going sky high these days, they are a economical alternative. Very fun to see the result. The vid shows FA & FB modified units pulling 7 cars and a Caboose,1/4 throttle, 4.5 volts. On a 8.5in radius!! smooth as silk. Sorry for the test paint job LOL. Stick with the two wheel cars, less resistance. Most all the Japan cars are black so they take paint for the American look. These two will pull 6 Beer can tankers or 70 ton ore cars with cabooses easy. My mini / pocket line system is growing fast. Have a bigger layout, now its getting neglected.

I use this mostly for testing track electrical continuity. Typical of anything made by Kato, it runs great, but is also very fast. Ridiculously fast, in fact. It is very lightweight and therefore does not have much pulling power. On an incline it will not pull even a single car, but add weight and it should do better. Not sure what I will use it for beyond zipping around my layout, but for the price I couldn’t resist. Also, the Rapido couplers it comes with are kinda useless for modern N scale rolling stock.

This little power unit runs beautifully, as is the case with anything KATO. I have used these units for HOn30 and N scale applications. They do come with the old Rapido style couplers and converting to other styles may be a challenge. With my older power supply these units have a high top speed, so you'll have to throttle them down to a realistic speed. I highly recommend them. Dave L.

The frame seems too light and does not work as expected

Train engine started to slow got weak - added too many cars. Decided to modify some of the cars as well as the caboose to add this motorized chassis and weights. Boost worked.

Used this power chassis to provide power for the shell of an old track inspection motorcar that did not work well. The conversion was easy with no modification of the shell. Only required to make some spacers from plastic sheet to correctly position the chassis under the shell.

Small size and runs great on clean track.

Only tried it on a test track, not used in the loco I intend it to be put in, but, it runs very smoothly and quietly

Kato - made in Japan. Top quality N-gauge chassis. Picks up on all 8 wheels, drives through 4 wheels on one bogie. This is useful as it's easy to shorten or lengthen the chassis to suit. I am using it under a 009 diesel kit and have had to shorten it by about 3mm to suit. This was quite easy and much easier than most 8 wheel drive chassis. The chassis itself is an excellent and smooth runner. Gaugemaster deliver well packaged and promptly.
