The pH of the homemade soy yogurt solids should be around 4.5 to 5.0. The pH of the fluid surrounding the homemade soy yogurt solids should be around 4.0 to 4.5. The extremely beneficial, probiotic, lactic acid bacteria (LABs) will convert the sugar that is added to soymilk into lactic acid. Therefore, If the pH of the surrounding fluid drops to 3.5, it indicates that too much sugar has been added to the soymilk. Bacillus subtilis natto prefers a pH of 7.0 to 7.5 and can survive in very acidic conditions but will stop multiplying under a pH of 4.0. Therefore, if we want Bacillus subtilis natto to be part of our soy yogurt, then we would be better off fermenting unsweetened soymilk instead of sugar-sweetened soymilk because there would be less lactic acid produced if the unsweetened soymilk is fermented. The bad bacteria tend to prefer to feast on animal flesh and they tend to strongly dislike plant flesh, lactic acid from the LABs, and the anti-bacterial chemicals produced by Bacillus subtilis natto. However, even if the pH of the soy yogurt is kept at 7.0, Bacillus subtilis natto can only multiply about half as fast as the LABs. Therefore, wealthy people should buy the natto starter culture or genuine natto and use it frequently instead of refermenting the final result by adding more soymilk.

I ordered this to test pH of ferments. Color was wrong even though it was sealed in aluminum foil and plastic. The plastic case did not contain the color code needed to compare against the color of tape after testing and the color code on the outside of cardboard box was covered up by the barcode for the item rendering the entire package useless.

These are perfect. They have always helped me test vaginal pH. All of the reviews saying they are garbage... Obviously you're not using them correctly or maybe yours are possibly old and defective. There's no way these turn dark green in every liquid, ESPECIALLY lemon juice or vinegar. Great value for the price, especially seeing that nutra blast is trying to sell a roll about a quarter of the length of this for 12.99.

I got this to monitor vaginal pH when I was having issues related to a birth control IUD and they work great, all you need is a qtip .I got rid of the IUD and now have a ton of the strips left over but it's a good thing to keep around.

This is a great an accurate product. People rating it bad because it doesn't test their water correctly... THIS IS NOT FOR WATER. The PH of water is around 7... So of course this is going to test water as green!! It only tests up to 5.5! This is a smaller scale testing range which is really good for people testing things WITHIN this range. This helps me test my feminine area to see if I am too acidic or not so I can use the correct medicine to get better (I struggle with recurrent BV usually). The broader color spectrum for this smaller range makes it possible for a more accurate reading; which has really helped me take some 'guessing' out of getting healthy. I have also tested this along side other brands of PH strip, and it does test correctly. Thanks for the great product!
