Great reusable straws!!!!! Highly recommend these type of reusable straws if you are using plastic throw away straws
I purchased a set of Stainless Steel Straws by Decodyne almost three years ago and eliminated my use of plastic straws except for the very occasional small boxed juices that come with the straws which I find so handy to take out in my yard for a weekend breakfast or brunch with my spouse. They are dishwasher safe and come clean in the dishwasher without using the brush. The only time I find mine need more cleaning is when I have a homemade cappuccino with my home made organic soymilk. The cappuccino froth tends to cling to the straw and then it must be pre cleaned before I place it in my dishwasher.I first discovered the wide use of reusable washable decorative straws in Argentina on a visit there to represent my award winning short film that I wrote, directed, produced and played the lead female character in. While there I saw the largest number of daily tea drinkers in comparison to any other place I had experienced. When I first visited London I expected to find a high number of tea drinkers there but was disappointed to find most favored coffee. This is not so in Argentina where it is unusual not to see a person with their Maté tea cup and straw with them. The Maté cups are special decorative tea cups and the straws have a filter at the bottom to filter the loose tea leaves. It was not uncommon in the headquarters of the film festival to see the employees and others working at the computer with their silver or other metal Maté cup sipping once in while. Since they have straws in them they never even had to take their eyes away from the computer while taking a sip. They carry their Maté tea with them in small bags or containers and just refill the hot water as needed since most work places there have hot water available for this tea which they also usually drink at their homes. As I watched them sip their tea I began to think about the superiority of this tea drinking system. It is so environmentally friendly. I have thought about it many times over the years since my visit. Each time I see a Styrofoam or paper coffee cup I still think of it and feel ashamed at all the times I had myself got coffee or tea to go in one of these disposable containers that are so wasteful in comparison to what the Argentineans do. They do not even use tea bags. As soon as my spouse and I FINALLY after many years got a dishwasher I purchased a set of the stainless steel straws from Decodyne. These are not the Argentinean style Maté straws that are different and have a filter at the bottom, which is somewhat, spoon shaped. But for my transition to washable straws, these Decodyne plainer and longer straws were a great start for me. They work great in my homemade sodas, ice teas and seltzers and also work for ice cream sodas. I drink my Turkish coffee with them although they are too long for my small Turkish coffee cups and must be placed in a coffee mug. I just recently after almost three years of drinking with my washable Decodyne straws also purchased a set of the smaller actual Maté straws which fit in my small Turkish coffee cups that I look forward to enjoying.Eventually as I make and drink more home made teas I will buy an actual Maté cup. These are perfect for loose tea and of course help me reflect on the wisdom of those in Argentina who have spear headed the use of reusable straws and the practice of bringing their teacups out if they go out to work. They do not create more trash by using disposable cups and lids and help save trees this way. I know I feel that much better about myself since I made the switch to washable straws.-Julie Sands

Good idea 3.5 stars
We use a lot of straws with the kids so I decided to help the planet a tiny bit and get these straws. Overall they are well made. I like that they are bent, it makes it easier to use. They come with a handy cleaner (a few cleaners actually), so you don't have to worry about the inside not washing 100%My few cons are: the cleaners are not long enough. so to clean the straw properly you have to go on one side then the other. If you are going to include the cleaners, why not add a few inches to the handle so they can go all the way through? The other con is the taste. You can taste a bit of metal when you use them. It doesn't mask the flavor of what you are drinking, but you do get that metal taste. So far we are pretty happy. I hope they do last a long time.

Great Straws & Great For The Environment Too!
When I realized how many disposable straws I was going through I was appalled! Found these fancy stainless steal jobs here on Amazon and thought I would give them a whirl. They are great! Once you get used to the clink on your glass and the mouthfeel (which doesn't take long) you will love these. I have sensitive teeth so I use straws to keep hot and cold beverages from hitting my teeth as they go down. I like that I am no longer contributing to the rubbish with plastic straws and these are impressive to guests as well. It says that you can't put these in the dishwasher but I am a rebel and put them in anyway. So far so good and I have been doing it for a few weeks now. I don't use a heated dry cycle so maybe that's why they are handling it fine. If you are a straw junkie like me give these a try, I even came back and bought some more after the first set!

It sounds weird but it's really nice! This look like bendy straws but they do ...
Oddly, I didn't think this product existed until I stumbled upon a lightning deal. I've been using an insulated mug with a throwaway plastic straw for months and have wanted something a little sturdier. This fits the bill! As a bonus, the steel transfers the temp of the drink almost instantly. That desperate ship of water at 3am is enhanced in its refreshing jolt with that little bit of coolness. It sounds weird but it's really nice! This look like bendy straws but they do not flex, although you can adjust the angle a bit if you wish. They also come with two thin brushes that work even better than the ones I use to wash baby bottles. These do not transfer that slight plastic taste the throwaway ones do, also a benefit. I'm not sure what to do with six of them so the others are stashed for now, but these are a great product and I'm glad to have found them.

A little short, still worthwhile
A little bit of a weird taste at first, but obviously remedied after use. I love that these straws are bent, and the way they become cold like my drink! You don't want to put these in a warm drink, of course. They tell you the length of these, but I buy things without thinking sometimes-- these fit in my glasses just fine, but only the tip pokes out of a water bottle, and I know they would disappear in a thermos or reusable water bottle. The absence of a fifth star is not because the length isn't advertised correctly, but just because these are a little too short to be practical. It looks like most of the metal straws are the same length-- five stars would be for some variety. Packs of littler straws for short glasses, packs of longer straws for bottles and thermoses.

I like stainless steel and happy they come with a cleaning brush
I like these because they will not break but I wish they were a little longer - maybe they have longer ones and I ordered the wrong ones -I'm not sure but I use a 30 oz cup and they are too short. For a normal size glass they are fine as in the picture.I'm glad they come with a cleaning brush that bends but I still would not use anything with milk in them and probably not soda either because of the acid. The only issue I see with the bend is that they could eventually get mold in them because I'm not sure they will get completely dry so I will probably only use mine for water but I love stainless steel items.
