Great entry point to Ubiquti ecosystem.
First time ubiquti user. I'm not a network engineer I'm just a nerd with a smart home who loves all stats/information. This feels a very apple-esque experience from unboxing it's nice presentation box to plugging it in and the device just sorting itself out and deciding it's role while I stand back with keyboard in hand ready to get busy just to find it's done (almost) everything itself. I had one snagging point being on EE/BT broadband, required inputting of some generic easily found on Google login information which did cause issues with it not detecting my internet, many ISPs now don't require this, but my BT/EE does & id have expected this with any 3rd party router. But where other routers tend to ask this information during setup, the Ubiquiti didn't seem to want to guide me through this process, just a no network cable detected scenario and I had to manually find the menu to enter login information. But, from there it was a breeze, I've now easily setup VLANs for my main network and my IoT network while also cloning my old network SSID to keep track of which of my (80+) smart home devices still need porting over to the new network. The sheer scale of information being provided by the router is amazing, coming from an Asus router which I already loved this has taken everything to a new level. Amazing flexibility is also offered, loads of settings I'll never need, touch, or even know what they are for. VPN integration is also great, able to setup specific VPN clients and route the entire network or just one device through it with ease. Performance wise, my old router was a beast but 4-5 years old now and I found things just a bit sluggish at times, and my Xbox downloaded at 400-700mb/s (1gb connection) and I figured that's just Xbox Live and my connection was too strong for it to reliably provide anything. Then, I researched my Asus router and found mentions it supports 35-45 devices before it experiences performance issues (remember I said I had 80+) ... So I decided maybe I needed a new router with a higher count, this claims 300+ devices, much research done and it's added to my cart. All 80 decides ported into the network, VPNs setup, some protection settings enabled (which apperently can slow things down).. my first Xbox download smashed 900mb/s and my pings are 6-8ms as opposites to 10-12ms, so clearly without realising my old router despite me thinking it's as good as it gets (just without wifi7) has been holding back my connection/network capabilities substancially. My mobile is also hitting 500-900mb/s all around my house using WiFi 7 where before it was more like a 200 maximum in WiFi 6 I've also bought a Ubiquiti WiFi access point to go outside and that was the most incredible setup process ever, I literally plugged it in, hit the new device button in app and it set itself up as a WiFi mesh with zero input from myself. Honestly for the price tag, this router genuinely seems like a bargain and great entry point to the Ubiquiti ecosystem & a can scale to suite someone without a clue, to someone who knows and likes to tinker right upto a a level where a network engineer would be satisfied. Points of note: it is worth noting Vs a powerful/gaming multi-antenna router of WiFi 6, the signal from the smaller/internal antenna DR7 is almost certainly lesser & the difference between a DR7 and a "Gaming Router" from another brand at similar price points will be this has a 2x2 Antennas where as other devices are probably sporting a 4x4, offering greater signal range and in ideal situations double the bandwidth, but I'm very happy with what Ubiquiti offers the ecosystem just works and the software is quite exceptionally nice & powerful to operate 300+ devices,... But the 2x2 Antennas is certainly the trade off with the DR7.

Top quality product
Top quality piece of equipment. Swapped out a deco mesh system with three nodes for this unit alone. Was able to cover the whole house by locating it centrally. Have 1gb broadband and now I can actually get proper speeds over WiFi with very few drop outs. Plan on extending the system to hardwire some of the more demanding devices in the house. Will use the Poe on the unit for this. Overall it’s great and works as you would expect from a premium product and price.

It really is the most amazing router I have ever encountered in my 35 years of working in IT.
This router seriously is a dream. There are so many options I was able to get rid of several peripherals I had on my home network (e.g. a Pi running DNS). I love the dashboard, the 2.5g (x4) and the 10g (x1) ethernet ports, and WiFi 7 is so very fast. I have a three floor semi-detached house and placed it on the ceiling of the middle floor - the whole house is covered. It has many security options beyond a simple firewall. Honestly I have never seen anything like it (former Network Manager, MSc IT). I realise it costs more than a lot of other home networking solutions - but it is well worth it. The only downside was that the light ring on top lights up your room a bit if you're trying to nap ha ha ha.

Increasing home/garden wifi coverage
I ordered this router along with a set of U6 Mesh units in order to improve the Wifi in my old house with thick walls and quirky layout... and extend wifi to outdoor garden. Other more basic extenders were mediocre in helping before. So far it's great and does everything I could hope for with less-fuss and definitely significantly improved wifi across the house/garden. it's not cheap but achieves what I wanted. No idea about all the other functionality but increasing wifi coverage it definitely achieves.

Great software, modular but slightly weaker wifi
Great features via the software but the WiFi signal could be better. Easy to expand the range and add more node APs by adopting

Solid router with loads of features
Great device. Easy to setup and loads of advanced features. Works out of the box with Gigaclear. Rather disappointing that it was not shipped with a UK power cord - had to steel on from a TV to get it running!

The Ubiquiti UDR7 is a big jump over UDR6 in terms of speed: WiFi 6 and the SFP+ port make it hard to beat (make sure you have the correct SFP+ adaptor in order to use this port). The Unifi environment makes it easy to integrate in a existing or a new installation.
