Bought this after getting interested with a bounty hunter pro. I do not recommend the bounty hunter. No volume contol and sounds like a screaming kid at a movie. Nocta simplex ultra is perfect. It gives numbers 3-98 that Ive seen. It takes time to learn them vs what is in the ground. It is not perfect.... A can tab looks like a zinc penny. Mine came with bag and shovel. Shovel needed more teeth in sides to get thru grass roots easier. Did not come with a "pinpointer." Gotta get ya one of them. A $20 one around this site takes 9vdc batteries. That can get annoying on price after a while... But its a start. Always fill in your holes very nicely at parks. Do not ruin it for the rest of us. I carry a 20"x28" carboard folded in half to put my dirt on. You can not tell I was ever there. Always check your holes a second time for that second coin near the one you found. If the area is trashy, select beach mode to get rid of 15 and under. Dumbfounded at how many mangled beer cans are down there?, manually block out 70 and under. I have about 20 hours with this and I can tell you 95% of the time exactly what is down there. I have a rechargeable usb battery taped to the shaft of mine. Around 2 bars left I think the detection depth may be getting a few inches shallower. If you want to get the smaller coil for dense trash parks, this uses the SX24 coil. NOT THE SP24. Different resonant frequencies. Put some band-aids in your bag. This does not detect broken glass, your fingers do. Wear nice gloves. Always ground balance when starting. Do it again if you move to different areas of your search. The ground can and does change from here to over there. Neat finds on this- wheat penny, indian head penny, chunks of iron bridge from 1850ish, 3 bucks in modern change, '65-'70 budweiser can top, in a walkable drying swamp behind an apartment building gave up an iphone and a nintendo switch 2. And cans. If you can not find can-slaw, your detector is busted or you locked that range out. Concrete slabs/sidewslks may have steel reinforcement. This may confuse your detector if you are too close. Buried power lines might do the same. Wear comfortable shoes. You are always 6 feet away from an awesome find.

Arrived just as expected. We are new to this so still figuring it out. Our first day at the beach yielded several gum wrappers and 27 cents. Not bad for a few hours work :-)

This is a really good detector for the price and it was better than the SCORE in my case. The controls were easier to use and give you plenty of adjustments for someone that is a beginner or even advanced beginner. The Score worked OK but mine had a real problem with the pinpoint button. It took extreme force to activate and the design required that you keep it pressed. Unlike the Minelab Xterra or possibly others where the PP feature is activated and stays on until you hit the key a second time. I sent the SCORE back (not from AMZN) and unfortunately, I sent the Simplex back since I thought I would be better served by the SCORE with multiple frequencies. Well if it is not easy to use, multi-frequency does not matter. If I had known this, I would have kept the Ultra. I instead went with another Minelab instead but the Ultra would be a great backup machine well tunes with 15KHz in my case.

This detector seems like a great value for the price. It has many features, can be submerged under water up to 16 feet, and is really accurate.
