Better than if I Designed it Myself
As an extremely experienced, long-time, year ‘round wilderness backpacker, I could not be happier with this product. It is *precisely* what I was looking for. For considerations involved with traveling through the woods, up and down mountains, for days and nights on end, cut off from covilization, there are three primary considerations that go into every piece of gear: Utility, packability, and weight. This blanket is, hands down, the best solution for backpacking in spring, summer, and fall. You’re not going to find anything with a better weight-to-heat retention ratio, or that packs down as small and compact as this does.If like me, you are trying to deduce the size and weight from the comments or from the pictures, let me describe it for you like this: While in the stuff sack it comes with, this blanket is about the size of a regular loaf of white bread, at about half the weight. But this isn’t as far as it will compact. It will compact to half this size if you need it to.Size when fluffed, lofted, and fully unfurled, the blanket is the perfect size for one full-size man. I am 6’, and this is perfect for me with no extra, excessive, unecessary material. I was worried it would come with an excessive amount of material, and for that reason I was considering going with a goose-down ‘throw’ rather than a ‘blanket’ - I’m glad I didn’t. (Other backpackers understand my reasoning here. Excess is a thing we spurn.) As it is, I have no trouble covering up completely with this blanket, nor is there any excess material (meaning unecessary, additional weight and space consumption in my pack), it’s just the perfect balance of meeting needs most effectively without overdoing it.Warmth: As I said, this is the perfect alternative to a sleeping bag for spring, summer, and fall. Somebody else claimed this will only keep you warm down to 60-70 degrees? I totally disagree. I don’t even know why you would need a blanket if it’s 70 degrees. This is 650 down, you can stay comfortable with this blanket easily, as long as you have on other layers (clothes) down to at least 45-50 degrees. (The idea that you stay warmer under insulation if you take off your clothes is the stupidest, yet most repeated, myth I’ve ever heard.)Anyway, there’s my two cents. I wanted to make sure to review this product for the benefit of the company, My thanks for making such a killer product at such an unbelievably fair price. And also, I wanted other woodsmen and backpackers to benefit from this product. I could not be happier. My pack size and weight just went down by pounds. Not ounces, pounds.

So warm!
I used this blanket in my hammock down to 50 degrees on a recent camping trip and I was comfortable. I felt like it could keep me warm in even lower temperatures.Since that trip I've made some modifications... added button snaps and a rubberband to form a foot box, and I removed some cross stitching to increase the loft. This is 3 pounds less than the sleeping bag that I was using... love it!

Amazing sleeping bag alternative for warm-weather backpacking!
I hate sleeping bags, because I am a side sleeper. I also didn’t want to spring the cash for a super-light & super-compact sleeping bag to use on backpacking trips. I had looked at the Rumpl brand down blankets, and ended up buying this one instead because of the price. I was afraid to commit to a Rumpl without knowing if I’d really like it. I’ve used this on two separate backpacking trips now, and I love it! I can’t imagine the Rumpl brand is worth $100 more... The Horizon Hound blanket is all I need! It kept me plenty warm at a high elevation with overnight temps in the low 50s. It literally compresses to the size of a Nalgene bottle. I’m pretty sure I could fit it inside my bottle if I needed to! It washes up easily and packs down super small. It’s practically weightless! This is by far the best camping purchase I’ve made!

Great Addition - Not a replacement
I would consider myself a "seasoned vet" when it comes to camping and bushcraft ventures. I bought this with hopes I could replace my sleeping bag with something that compresses much much smaller. It however was not something very comfortable during my camp trip this past weekend. With that said, I'll weigh the pros and cons:Pros:Compresses down extremely smallComfortable materialIncredibly easy to pack and/or put in stuff sack.Cons:Claims to be comfortable at 40F - I wouldn't consider this for any night that drops below 50F or 55FUnable to replace a 40F sleeping bag with this blanket - It just doesn't retain warmth as well.A bit expensive for the truly applicable applications.

Nice, but quality control is haphazard
Seemed like a great product but has flaws in workmanship. Stitching is coming unraveled at edges and the stitching is very haphazard. Plastic buttons I’m afraid will tear the fabric. And I’m already seeing feathers come out of the stitches areas. Only had it a month. I emailed the company but no response. Wasn’t super expensive, but still, based on reviews I thought the quality and workmanship would be better.

Check the dimensions when you get it.
I am giving this a one star rating because the size listed of 80x54” is not the size that came, it was 74x50” which was too small for me. It did keep most of me warm but it didn’t cover me as much as it should have.

Excellent down quilt
I was delighted with how well this worked. I utilized it hammock camping with a small air mattress. Weather was breezy, low around 50 f. I was very comfortable. Large enough to wrap up in. I think this blanket is a great deal for the price. I was camping at Sleeping Bear Dunes in Michigan. I'm 61 years old and tired of the premium gear suppliers overpricing the joy of camping. Shop smart and you don't need them!

Finally! A compact portable down blanket that rivals the $200 Rumpl ones.
After I saw those down Rumpl blankets, I really wanted one, but $200+ was hard to swallow. I'm so glad I found this one! I bought it to use as a sleeping bag replacement in the summer months. Just took it on it's first run to Shetland and it kept me and my husband warm down to around 55 F. After that it got a little chilly but not unbearable. Definitely my go-to camping and I'm-cold blanket. And this is coming from a person that is perpetually cold in the winter. The warmth is noticeable after just a few minutes. And it's so light and poofy. As for size, it's perfect for one person, even up to 6 or so feet tall. For two people in a small tent who like to get cozy, it works well enough, but I would ideally want a couple more inches on the side of blanket fluffiness.I also appreciate that it fits well in its stuff sack and can also be further squashed around other stuff in your bag if need be. Great purchase!
