I prefer capsules (at 1000 mgs) because they are easier to swallow and/or can be sprinkled over food. A thousand milligrams of ANY supplement is bound to be quite large. When using the tablet form I usually order the 500 mg and take two at once. Tablets 'hold up' better when traveling, especially in humid climates.I haven't noticed one brand working better than another as long as it is "free-form" L-lysine. The tablets seem to be just as effective as the capsule form. This Solgar L-lysine bottle does not 'expire' until 12/2018 and is made of heavy amber glass with a sturdy metal cap. The 250 size bottle will last around four months if you take two per day.

This stuff is great. I had E. Coli a couple years ago, and after that + antibiotics, my digestive system has been really out of whack. For instance, I couldn't eat dairy products anymore without having a severe stomach ache. :( I heard about this product because I also suffer from acne, which gets worse when my digestion is off. Apparently this is an amino acid that is produced naturally in our bodies, but adult acne sufferers are usually low on!The pills are pretty large but I've never had trouble with them. Took them twice a day for the first month, then went down to every night before bed. This has DEFINITELY helped me digestion issues (I can eat dairy again!! But only as a treat, because it's not great for ya anyway) and uh... well, let's just say I'm regular again. I'm not sure yet how much it has helped my skin, though. I definitely don't get cysts anymore, but I do still get whiteheads. Since my acne is linked to a lot of different things besides digestion (hormones, stress, allergies) I can at least say it didn't make it any worse. So, to me, this is a supplement I recommend for inside issues, just not outside ones.

It’s been great for my skin & even helped my lips look better. I’m buying them again because I love how my lips feel a bit fuller—prob from being healthier! The tablets can be a bit tough to swallow at first, but you get used to them or can split them if needed. Overall, I recommend them
