API test kits have switched over to using plastic vials. While less breakable, the plastic ones become stained if you dont promptly clean them out thoroughly. Also the plastic 5mm lines are often difficult to see. These glass tubes are the actual API tubes with the 5 mm fill lines and very secure caps. They are far easier to clean out than the plastic ones and if capped are less likely to spill. Now sure youll occassionally drop one and break it. But with this set you'll have plenty to replace broken ones and do as many tests as you want to compare before and after readings. I got a tube holder here on Amazon that also allows me to have several sets of the 7 tests I do displayed without risk of dropping them or knocking the off tables. Really is well worth having these if you do the API water testing much.

These are perfect for people like me who have enough aquariums that the tubes that come with the original test kits are not enough. They are the same high quality tubes API has in their kits, this way you can do more tests at once while you wait for the others to finish their wait time.

They're exactly what I wanted (the api test kits no longer come with glass test tubes, but with little plastic tubes that are harder to read because they're kind of foggy rather than clear and because they eventually stain). This was the most economical way to get glass tubes, and I'll probably have enough to last me the rest of my life, even if I were to break quite a few, lol. HOWEVER, the packaging leaves a lot to be desired. The tubes are in a thin paperboard box and that is tossed into a cardboard shipping box. Nothing is wrapped or protected at all. I'm honestly quite surprised none arrived broken.

The glass is really clear (not cloudy like some other brands) and it's great that the level line is marked off (makes measuring the amount for water tests super foolproof). I also bought some cheap plastic pipettes so that I disturb the tanks as little as possible, but more so because it's really easy to fill up these tubes to the line with the precision of a pipette. The caps fit snugly and I'm never worried about any leakage while shaking up the chemicals with the water during testing. To clean, I just run it through some warm water after I'm finished with the testing and the tubes are as good as new again. Great product and I love testing my aquarium's water quality with this more precise method.

Sad these are offered in such a large quantity but luckily I have lots of tests to do. At $0.50 a pop, not exactly cheap but the best price per unit i can find. They leak when shaken, a common thing for water tests. Not good when shaking corrosive chemicals. They do break as they're small and glass, but not entirely frail like grandmas fine wine glasses. The caps pair nicely (minus the leaking) and the tubes can be stood up on their ends. These are OEM, come with the 5mL markings, caps, and everything, but are a bit pricey. Also they leak. Honestly a big turnoff for API tubes.

My son accidentally broke two of the glass test tubes that came with the ammonia and pH test kits. Just when I needed it most, I had nothing. The pandemic made it worse, where Petco and PetSmart were always out of stock. So, I made sure that I ordered a set of 24 in case of more accidents. The glass is not that thick but sheer so that you can make a good color reading which is important. I'm skeptical about using the plastic bottles because I'm not sure how clear they would be to make a good reading. Plus, I prefer glass for the share visibility. I wish the glass was more durable though, because the cleanup SAR another issue, tiny glass pieces can be missed and end up in your Barefoot. Ouch! Overall: good for sheer visibility color check. Value: could be cheaper as glass always needs to be replaced when broken.

Fantastic dint not realise they was made out of glass so now i realise why they bit on expensive side but I'm absolutely pleased with the product very well made and none was broken which is a bonus definitely worth paying the price for what they are api products are the best

All vials arrived in perfect condition! I got these to replace the tubes I had because I broke all four of mine accidentally. The only complaint is the price I wish it was a bit cheaper. Overall this is a decent product.
