DELL AS501PA Sound BAR Speakers for DELL Flat Panel LCD

Despite the fact this appeared to come in a Dell-sealed box, the power module plug was incompatible with the speaker bar. Both had male connectors. Shipping it back for a refund.

i previously owned a dell inspiron 2305 which was an "all in one" pc with the speakers on the bottom . simple lap top speakers. i upgraded my desktop to a dell xps 8500 with a 24 inch screen. i was use to the sound out of my all in one pc, so i started looking at these sound bars that will free up space on my desktop as well as give me sound directly in front of me vs. having more large speakers on either side of my screen. i read the reveiws on the newer sound bar , the black one. and wound up purchasing the gray one for its more depth and clarity. i love it, after setting up my pc's sound card to emit sound that is appropriate for voice (vs music or any other settings) i am very happy. i did require the external power since my newe 24 inch monitor does not have a power port on the back for this device. im very happy with the purchase.

This sound bar looks very nice on my Ultra Sharp 2208WFP. The sound quality is average, do not expect high fidelity or bass. For video conferencing or just hearing windows sounds and game effects the sound bar works fine. It has 2 headpone jacks but they work only if the sound bar is on (to bad). If you have a HD sound card like SB X-FI you'll lose 20% of the audio quality through the hearphones so it is a better idea to conect them directly to the sound card. It would be a good idea for future models of this sound bar to have 1 headphone jack passive (direct) and 1 active (amp on).

Bought this speaker so save room on the desk top because my old speakers always seemed to be in the way or were getting knocked over! This is a great space saver and although the volume can not be cranked way up like my older ones, how loud does something have to be? They sound quality is good too!

Adapter is not compatible with the speakers. It is simply a misleading advertisement, don't buy this item unless you have a port to connect speaker power supply in the monitor.

If you have a Dell flat panel display and you want simple good sound for Windows sounds, music, Skype and online video streaming, get this. It removes a lot of desk clutter and the sound is good. It is not for somebody who wants deep bass and surround scound, but for me it is perfect. An added bonus is the two (yes TWO) earphone jacks on the end because I can plug in my Bose headphones if I want great sound ... and if I wanted to share sound with somebody they can plug in too and we do not disturb others.

For such a small sound bar, it produces decent output. It won't rock your socks but its decent. It works best with a dell monitor that has multiple inputs.
