I have purchased this on Oct 2020, I using it for DIY NAS with custom build Tiny PC and mounted through the USB. this is running 24/7 from past 4 years never had any issues in accessing the data and speed is very good as i have the Bottle neck of 1gbps which is the 1G network adapter. Now planning for purchase the second drive same 6tb, as i would change my HDD for every 4 years to safeguard my data.

cable length was small, also hardisc stop detecting from case after 8year.....so keep your eye on data first...fortunely i had taken another backup..so ....but main hardisc still working ....but directly...as like open hardsic...not as this device.

I bought 2 of these on prime day sale, so I got each for 12500. There is all this commotion that WD have changed the internal drives in My Books and elements to SMR. Yes they did, but only for the capacities lesser than 8 TB. So if you buy an 8 TB and above drive, they will be CMR. Coming to speeds, you can get upto 210 MBps when writing to outer Cylinders and 110 MBps when writing to inner cylinders. The models I got are not Helium filled and the temperatures may rise above 56° C if continuously used and are not cooled. Heat is bad for hard drives and I recommend you to cool them by placing a 12v DC fan on the top of it. I can say these drives are cheap by comparing the price/TB in the Indian market. Of course these are not portable but I've used both WD and Seagate portable drives and I can say that they too get heated up when using continuously and the speeds are very low (110 MBps write on outer Cylinders and 50-60 MBps write on inner cylinders) compared to My Book desktop drive. This is very good drive and I recommend buying them.

Never Purchase Electronic gadgets in online because when that product defective these online customer support never try to replace that product, they told us to contact brand , I bought 8tb HDD but within a month hdd make noise while read or write time so I tried to contact customer support but they didn’t help me to replace that product I recorded a video of noisy sound and still I didn’t get support, Go and buy ofline stores they will help incase of within a warranty period
