As other reviews mention, it smells of feet once you first open up the bag and take some out. The smell goes away immediately. It's extremely absorbent and bunny finds it soft enough so, 5 🌟 for this!

Great value for money and lasts a long time, however this one does have a funny smell to it in comparison to their other types. I would, however, highly recommend this kind of product over sawdust. It is so much softer for hamsters and small animals, and I would definitely be purchasing this item again - it lasts a long time!

When first opening the bag the smell was pretty overwhelming. After finishing up with putting it in the cage I noticed I can’t really smell it after 20 mins. It doesn’t do too great of a job at keeping the smell of hamster waste to a minimum but it’s a great temporary substitute. The bedding at the bottom can be pretty dusty so be careful when using the last little bit. My dwarf hamsters hasn’t shown any signs of respiratory problems or any kind of stress and I’ve been using this for around a month. In conclusion just be cautious when using this. You can easily mask the unpleasant smell with a simple air freshener, just be sure to spray it when your pet isn’t in the room.

One of my buns has sore feet right now and I'd been looking for something softer than sawdust for him to rest on. Found this and it's perfect. He snuggled straight down into it, burying himself half down (it was cute). He's already peed in it which made me laugh. It just absorbed it immediately, no issues whatsoever. It doesnt have a funny smell like some of the other products id tried (not other products from this company i might add) it just smells like nothing....if that makes sense. Fantastic product and great company. I love that I can recycle and compost the entire product including the packaging and that its all ethically sourced and produced. I will for sure be back for more if he needs it.

I bought his instead of usual sawdust / shavings due to shortage in availability of these in present situation. At first I thought the product looked and felt good, certainly less messy than sawdust, however, it did have a strange strong smell, which was very unpleasant. The next day the smell in the room was horrendous and when the door to that room was opened the whole family were commenting on the pungent smell- like manure and urine mixed. I cleaned out the hamster cage again but by the next day it was the same problem. Had to clean the whole cage out daily until it was all gone (whilst awaiting a sawdust delivery). It seems any excrement from the tiny hamster resulted in exacerbating the already pungent smell so much so that I would have been as well to just throw the whole product in the bin before use as most of what was thrown away each day had barely been stepped on.let alone used for its purpose. AVOID. do not recommend.

Soft and absorbent bedding for my guinea pigs. Slight odour when bag is first opened but this soon goes away.

I love this product and so does my syrian hamster!It is cheaper than other known brands, of which I have tried all. It isnt dusty at all, but yet its still perfect for my hamster to dig in (which he enjoys doing often). I change my cage every week and it doesnt smell at all. I have brought this product many times and I will to continue to do so.Only advice is to use this one, I dislike the other smelled ones from this brand. This plain one is perfect!
