Robomow RC306 Robotic Lawn Mower

This mower will not complete the initial setup process. The mower and the base station appear to not be able to communicate with each other as the mower just spins in a circle twice and then stops with an error message.I started by opening a ticket using the "Contact Us" page on the Robomow web page. I got no response after 7 days and called Amazon.The Amazon rep said they had no troubleshooting information for this item and that I would have to call the manufacturer. They did provide me with the toll free support number.I then explained the problem again and asked the Robomow telephone support rep if the mower and base station are supposed to communicate via wifi or bluetooth, or even GSM, but he could not answer that. His only suggestion was to start the installation process over completely by trying to install the base station in a different place. The problem with that is that they start you out be telling you to lay the ground wire first, which can take several hours, especially when you have sub zones. Since the base station needs to be connected where the wire starts and also within 15 feet of the electrical outlet, this does not leave many options. The customer support rep agreed to escalate the issue to a manager, but none were available and I would have to wait for a callback, although he could not tell me when that would be.Also, the mobile app does not work in my area, because it also cannot connect with the mower which is one of the ways to troubleshoot. The customer support rep tells me the mobile app won't work because it was designed to work with the cellular GSM network in the UK, and that same type of service is being phased out here in most areas of the U.S.Please be aware that this item is NOT returnable to Amazon under any circumstances since it contains a Lithium Ion battery and that is considered to be hazardous material, so no shipping company will accept it for return shipping from a non-registered home user.

I bought this as gift for my in law. The robot had small dent upon arrival but they decided to keep it as long as it works well. However once he took his time to install all the wires around the perimeter and tried to hook up the wire to the base station, the square plug that plugs into the base will not sit properly, making it impossible to charge the robot because it will pause due to short circuit. They couldn't even get the robot fully charged without interruption. I will be returning this before our 30day return window closes. I should have listened to other bad reviews of robomow here on Amazon. This is my second attempt to buy them a lawn mower robot and now. I am just going to buy husquavan robot although it costs 2500$. It costs twice more but that company's product has great reviews and will not cause so much trouble on my part as well as on the gift recipient. It's embarrassing to gift a bad product.the trouble of installing all the wire is another reason for going with a trusted brand.

Took me forever to install, there are just way too many restrictions, but I eventually figured that out, once installed, it worked pretty well. It is a bit stupid, hitting trees etc. but got the job done marvelously when it worked and then it committed suicide by driving into a soft walled pool and getting flooded. This is where my customer support nightmare started. It was very hard to get a hold of anyone who could really help me. No knew where I can purchase a replacement battery or could provide guidance as to why I can't order it to WA - had they only told me something like "these can be ordered to NY only" I could have used a proxy - but,nope, they sent me to an online site that had no parts available. I was then told they don't support my model anymore - guess what, they still sell it with minor differences, and it's less than two years old!!!So it's a great device when it works(hence 2nd star), but expect 0 customer service.

Started having issues about 2 1/2 Years after I bought it.Had to set it up on the level part of my yard. The sloped sections by the street couldn't be handled. I made a gate for it to go between the front and back yard and that worked pretty well. It was about 75% good at going home to its base. It gets worse if you don't keep up with the edging.
