Q: Are the pieces compatible with other K'nex thrill rides sets?

Hi there, this is the Knex Customer Service, but please note the item is being sold by a third party reseller. This Kit uses the micro sized Knex pieces, which are used in 90% of Knex Kits. The "core" sized pieces are larger. To answer your question, this kit is compatible with most of the Thrill Rides Knex Kits. Some of the kits may have "core" sized Knex pieces (slightly larger) but the majority of the set is built using Knex Micro sized pieces and roller coaster track. Q: Are pieces compatible with knex from 30 years ago?

I don't think so the prices look a little bit smaller than I remember

Q: Can kids be creative with what they build or are they limited to the two included designs?

My grandson liked building his own designs , but if you need replacement parts they don't seem to have any customer service anymore .
