Extremely well packaged, with the best support
ThE packaging is top notch, the drives are very high quality, and if you should get a dead one… I did get one once… support was amazing. They did an advance replacement, at no charge, so I got the new drive without having to pay for it and then get a refund, or wait until the defective drive was received. Amazing, the way support should be.

Excellent Home Studio Backup
I'm using this as a Time Machine backup as well as a primary drive for streaming samples for VST & audio applications. At full throttle (24+ track sessions along with anything the Mac is telling it to do), it barely gets warm and remains quiet. It's one of those products intended to work silently in the background, plug it in, and expect it to do it's job. This drive has delivered without any issues. Great price for 2TB, fast, quiet, Prime Shipping, can't go wrong. Highly Recommended.

Dead in 3+ Weeks on Yosemite Mac? Maybe No
I see others complaining of Yosemite incompatibilities and this perhaps is yet another.Arrived and started beautifully May 2015I partitioned it with ease on an old Mac MIni 2006 Backed that up with Time Machine 300GB in about 4 hoursMoved it to a newer Macbook ProStarted with Yosemite 10.10.2Time Machine detected the Mac Mini TM file and offered to make the Macbook TM backup separateFlawlessThenJune 2015 Apple updates to 10.10.3 the partition holding the Time Machine backups would not mount and didn't want to be erased.I was able to work around the latter by getting it to RE-Partition back to just one partition and after that it would mount and it would allow any level of secure erase.Erased and sent back for refund.Either Apple needs to cut out whatever nightmare its selling with Yosemite or Third Party vendors needs to be integrated more closely with Apple's top engineers so that they CAN make compatible devices.Three stars for being ultra easy to set upBeing QuietLooking GoodNegative for Failing in less than a monthAnd for having a Firewire cable that doesn't fit tightly enough. It didn't jump out like folks say the cable does on Wes Digital drives but it definitely will fall out with a touch or a breeze.

Just got it--works fine.
Product was extremely easy to install on my MacBook Pro. Very quiet and working well. It's not really a portable drive, but I use it in my office for photo/audio storage.

Failed Drive
The product failed leaving me in a horrible lurch just as I was outputting a file for work, and for that reason alone I would in no way recommend it to anyone using it any capacity, whether personal or professional. I've used Glyph products before, usually RAID, but would never risk it again – too much on the line and too much stress as it is without the additional stress of a drive failure. It's proved itself an untrustworthy brand.

7 years later, still going strong!
I love Glyph. I've had for seven years, and I'm about to retire them for some 2TB solid state drives. I'll keep these around though as they work fine and are fast for backups.

Third Glyph Drive I have purchased - they appear to be built like a tank!
Seems like a very solid drive, and my previous Glyph's had no issues!! My only concern is that it is not a quiet as I thought it would be. This may just be a problem with my expectations, but I was under the impression that it bordered on being silent. That is not the case. In a quiet environment you definitely can hear the unit running. Not loud but definitely a buzz in the room, and definitely quieter than the previous Glyph's I have owned.I ordered a longer cable from Amazon and will move it closer to the floor to see if this muffles the sound a little. Using it in a home recording studio.

Great drive, it's a Glyph
Great drive, it's a Glyph, enough said if your in the music industry! My only minor complaint and I'm not detracting from this review for it is,It comes on automatically at computer start-up but you have to turn it off manually if you shut your computer down. If you're a weekend warrior music recording artist, you may come back the next week and find it's been on all week while the computer was off. Not a big deal after you realize this, it took me a couple of tries to remember but now I'm programmed to shut it off. Perhaps a firmware update might address this in the future.
